Tokyu Excel is in the middle, but personally I feel that Excel is more stylish and newer than Tokyu Hotel. It's close to the station, the surrounding area is not crowded, and it's really calm, with many department stores, convenience stores, and restaurants. The room is spacious enough for one person. I stayed at Hoshino Resorts Kai Izumo in Tamatsukuri Onsen, Shimane Prefecture. The hotel in Matsue I stayed at on my solo trip to Shimane Prefecture was so nice that I'd like to introduce it to you♪ It's about a 15-minute stroll from JR Matsue Station. I arrived at "Natural Hot Spring Dandan no Yu Onyado Nono"! There are many izakayas where you can enjoy local sake in the area, and the national treasure Matsue Castle is within walking distance, so it's a great location. When you enter the inn through the cool Japanese noren curtain, the first thing you do is take off your shoes and put them in the shoe locker. You have to keep your own key. The atmosphere is warm and wooden, and it's really nice! When you enter the room, it also has a Japanese modern atmosphere, and it's such a cute and comfortable space that you might wonder if it's only for solo female travelers. And from the room I stayed in this time, you could see Lake Shinji, where the sunsets are said to be incredibly beautiful. On the top floor (11th floor), there is a large natural hot spring bath called "Dandan no Yu" for men and women, and you can eat free ice cream after bathing. And the highlight is the breakfast! You should definitely try the breakfast here. It's very delicious, and making your own seafood bowl was fun! If you come to Matsue, you should try the soba here! A local izakaya recommended "Handmade Soba Tofu." It's written as "Tofu" but pronounced "Kochi." I went there the next day at lunchtime. I had heard that there was a line even on weekdays, so I arrived 15 minutes before opening. Luckily, I was the first one there! When I turned around after about 5 minutes, there were about 10 people in line. This place serves carefully made soba noodles that are handmade every morning, and you can choose between 100% soba and 28% soba. The difference between 100% soba and 28% soba is the percentage of buckwheat flour. 100% soba is 100% buckwheat flour. 28% soba is made with 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour. I ordered the 100% grated daikon radish soba (1,050 yen). I also had some soba tofu (380 yen) and some local sake. The 100% buckwheat soba noodles, made with aromatic coarsely ground buckwheat flour, had a chewy texture and a great flavor, and were very delicious. There is also a parking lot. Matsue is famous for the clams caught in Lake Shinji. It boasts the largest clam catch in Japan, and is widely known nationwide as a major producer of Yamato clams. The first meal I chose on this solo trip was a clam bowl. I visited a restaurant called "Kisetsu no Kazegura." The clam bowl, a Matsue specialty, was small but packed with clams. And the clam soup had a great flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the clams from Lake Shinji. Then, before heading home, I bought some clams as souvenirs at Matsue Station!
