[Fukushima Prefecture] A station with a thatched roof!?!?!
Yunokami Onsen Station, located in Minamiaizu-gun, Fukushima Prefecture
A station building with a thatched roof, which is quite rare even in Japan
Yunokami Onsen Station is also the nearest station to Ouchi-juku!
The thatched roof was made to resemble the streetscape of Ouchi-juku, the nearest tourist spot.
It is also known as a famous cherry blossom spot, and many photographers visit. A fire is lit in the hearth in the waiting room, and the smoke serves to drive away the insects that gather on the thatched roof.
Due to these unusual features, it has been selected as one of the 100 best stations in Tohoku, and has also been awarded the Japan Railway Award and Special Award.
Please come and visit us! !

Nikko Kaido Road, Tochigi
#cherryblossom25
Review (Traveler using #cherryblossom25):
Driving along the Nikko Kaido Road during sakura season was like entering a real-life anime scene. This 16-kilometer stretch lined with cherry blossom trees is absolutely stunning — and I caught it just as the petals began to fall, so it felt like driving through a snowstorm of pink. I stopped a few times to walk along the road and take pictures, and each section seemed more beautiful than the last. This isn’t your typical cherry blossom park experience — it’s more about the journey than a single location. The trees here are mostly yamazakura, so the colors are deeper and the blossoms a bit more wild and natural. I also stopped by some of the small shrines along the route, which made the experience feel spiritual. Using #cherryblossom25 for this road trip was a must — I’ll be looking back at these photos for years. Peaceful, scenic, and unforgettable.

[Fukushima] Experience Japan's great nature and legends in Hieida Village
Hiedaga Village
A mountain village in Fukushima Prefecture, with a population of about 500 people, located in a valley surrounded by the great nature of Oze.
As it is a highland area surrounded by mountains at an altitude of nearly 1000m, it is a cool summer resort in the summer, and in the winter, it becomes a hot spring resort with steamy waters, where you can experience the atmosphere of a journey in a snowy country.
"Hiedaga Kabuki" has been traditionally passed down by the villagers since the late Edo period, and the "Hiedaga Stage", where it is shown, was designated an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan in 1976!
Kabuki is still shown on designated days, so why not try sightseeing at the same time?
Performance dates
・Atago Shrine Festival Dedication Kabuki May 12th Free
・Chinju Shrine Festival Dedication Kabuki August 18th Free
・Kabuki Evening First Saturday of September 1,000 yen (free for guests staying in Hiedaga Village)

The most beautiful road in Nikko
Cherry Blossom Alley was built for noble members of the Tokugawa clan on the way from Tokyo to Nikko. There are about 1,500 sakura trees, many small temples and shrines. Walking along the alley is a pleasure.
We recommend it
Enter the Tosegu Shrine
Visit Rinno-ji Temple and Futarasan-jinja Shrine
Drive to the Kagon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji a few bus stops from the Tosegu Shrine
It is interesting
Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered the road to be built in 1617 to ease the way to the Toshogu Shrine
Sakura trees grow for 16 kilometers along the road
How to get there
Buses run to Nikko district from Utsunomiya Railway Station. The trip will take about an hour and a half, depending on the traffic and the place where you decide to get off.
When to go there
In spring, during the cherry blossom season, the alley turns into a place of amazing beauty, wonderfully framing the entrances to the sanctuaries and temples of the Nikko district. In autumn, it is worth seeing the splendor of Cedar Avenue, intersecting with the alley.
On the pink path
Nikko Kaido Alley is considered one of the best places in Japan to admire sakura. The trees are densely planted along the road and create a real blooming tunnel above it. Sakura blossoms in Tochigi in early April — a little later than in Tokyo.

[Snow Scenery] Winter Sports
Address: 535 Takatsuehara, Minamiaizu-machi, Minamiaizu-gun, Fukushima 967-0315
Easy access from the Tokyo metropolitan area, and the snow quality is pretty good!
It was snowing when I visited, but on a clear day the view from the top is spectacular.
I was able to enjoy the powder snow on the ungroomed course!

Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine
Futarasan Shrine is about a 10-minute walk from Utsunomiya.
The stairs are impressive, but I want you to see the view after you climb them.
Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine is a shrine in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. It is a Shikinaisha (shrine in the Shikinaisha) and Ichinomiya (first shrine) of Shimotsuke Province. Its former rank was Kokuhei Chusha (national medium-sized shrine), and it is currently a beppyo shrine under the Association of Shinto Shrines. Its divine crest is the "three-comma comma". Its official name is Futarasan Shrine, but to distinguish it from Nikko's Futarasan Shrine, it is called "Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine" after the name of the place where it is located. It is said that in the past it was also called Utsunomiya Daimyojin. #AutumnTrip #CoupleTrip #Trip2022 #SupportTourism

LEARNING THE ART OF ORIGAMI IN HOSAWA JHS! 🏵
#japan is very popular for their Origami art, or the art of Paper Folding. When we went to Hisawa Junior High School, we were given the chance to learn Origami from the students themselves. It was quite hard I must say, but I managed.
Learning Origami from the Japanese people is a great experience. You should try it if you happen to visit Japan!

LEARNING CALLIGRAPHY AT HISAWA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL ✨
As part of our Kizuna Project, we needed to learn Calligraphy with the students of Hisawa JHS. It was totally fun, but I was terrible at using the brush. Calligraphy was really difficult as well.
One thing that you should try if ever you visit #japan is learning Calligraphy like we did. It was such a unique experience. 👍🏼

KAITENZUSH
KAITENZUSHI in AIZU! 🍣
Way before I met Sushiro, I was able to eat Sushi in Minamiaizu with my Kizuna-mates. It is also a Kaitenzushi, or more commonly known as Sushi Conveyor Belt. I can no longer remember how many Sushi we ate, but I am sure that we ate a lot. Just look at the pile of plates on our table!
