A national natural monument with a series of steep cliffs

#springwander A scenic spot with a series of strange rocks that have been formed by repeated erosion and weathering over a long period of 1 million years. "Hetsuri" means "cliff" and "dangerous wall" in the local word. The magnificent landscape of large columnar cliffs with a total length of 200 metres is designated as a national natural monument in 1943 as a unique example of the rare river eclipsive terrain.
