Palermo city was a charm 🇮🇹
#travelchecklist
Visiting Palermo was an unforgettable experience! 🏛️ My day began with a stroll through the vibrant markets of Ballarò and Vucciria, where you can savor fresh local produce and street food. The entrance to the Palermo Cathedral was free, and its stunning mix of architectural styles is worth exploring. ⛪ For a small fee of around €8, I toured the Cappella Palatina inside the Norman Palace, which features breathtaking mosaics.
Nearby, the picturesque Piazza Pretoria and its impressive fountain were highlights, as well as the peaceful Orto Botanico, perfect for a relaxing walk. 🌿 The blend of history, culture, and cuisine made my Palermo trip truly special. #trip #Palermo #Sicily #TravelTips #ItalianTravel #HistoricalSites

✔️Working hours: from Tuesday to Friday, 9:00-13:00, 15:00-17:00.
It’s the oldest museum in Sicily. It contains a great collection of Ancient Greek art. Some of the historical items are dated 4th/5th century BC. The buildings of the museum itself is a true masterpiece also. It was built in 17th century. In the middle of the museum there is a small yard with a fountain and a small garden.
For now the second floor of the museum, church and the oratorium are under renovation. But the first floor can impress a lot!
It’s a good place to spend a couple’s of hours and to know more about the history of Palermo.

Restaurant was modern and chic looking. Servers was fast and helpful. We were immediately shown to our table. They were patient too as it can be chaotic to take the order for a large group. Food was amazing. Cooked perfectly and the portion was big too. We were allowed to pack our unfinished food.

In the heart of Palermo🌅
Rustic narrow paths and ornate buildings aged by time ensure that, in Palermo, you never know what is around the corner. You can find extravagant churches behind small ordinary facades scattered throughout the historic center

Best hot chocolate I have ever had.
Spinnato at Piazza Castelnuovo serves the best hot chocolate we had ever had such that we went there 4 times in the 3 days we were at Palermo. So good!!!! It is not a chocolate drink but instead, it is like melted chocolate. I do not know how they make their hot chocolate so the best way I can only describe is melted chocolate. It is hot and has a thick and smooth consistency. not the watered down type.
There are different hot chocolate creations for you to choose and I am sure you will be spoilt for choices.
There is 2 Spinnato facing each other, one sells coffee and one sells chocolate. You can sit at either of them and place order for any item.
Go for the original hot chocolate or their specialty coffee such as cognac coffee which warms you up in the cold

Spaggia di Mondello in Palermo, Italy 🇮🇹
Spiaggia di Mondello has a strong reputation among the locals as being one of the best touristic spots to visit in all of the city of Palermo in Sicily.
It is a great place for a swim in the summer with wide open spaces and plenty of places to eat at as well.
It is rather easy to get here following a gps and the bus routes in the city. It is not so far from the city center either but is not so far walkable to this destination so take the bus or a car.
There are many businessmen near the area selling gifts and there are shops with specific souvenirs tourists would want.
I would definitely say it is worth a visit. During my trip in the spring it was warm and still not too hot.
Definitely recommended.

Although it is mostly known as Tonnara Bordonaro, Palermo’s Tonnara Vergine Maria officially shares its name with the old fishing village that developed around the tuna fishing and its processing facility. For the past 70 years this magic place has been abandoned but recently has been used for cultural events and entertainment. This place is full of history and it’s located just next to Palermo’s beautiful Tyrrhenian Sea!

I managed to visit #palermo as part of my cruise ship trip. It is located in the #sicily island of #italy and it shows a bit different culture and architecture than most of the other places of the country. There are many churches, Parthenon, palaces and many small squares. There are also nice shopping opportunities around the place. It is easily accessible because of the cruise ship terminal and the airport nearby.

Byzantine art is a historical heritage that spans the millennium and is also the yearning for the ancient empire. The medieval Byzantine Empire, from architecture, literature, art to clothing, left an indelible influence on later generations. The mosaic inlays with representative features have also become Byzantine style ICON!
is full of Byzantine style. The empire has fallen in the long history, but the legacy of the empire has long been integrated into the roots of Sicily. Perhaps this is what Sicily should look like.
Palermo Central Cathedral Cathedral This religious complex is a collection of different architectural styles from different periods, reflecting the architectural style of Palermo.
Visitors can see Gothic double spires and arches, Catalan-style porches and columns, and mosque-style geometric patterns, all perfectly Blended together. Inside is a Norman-style semi-circular hall, the cemetery of the Norman royal family. The underground treasures show a wide variety of jewellery, all belonging to Queen Costa of Aragon.
The intersection of Emmanuel Avenue and Marka Street is a small circular square, which is known as the Four Songs Square, also known as the Four Corner Square. Here is the landmark of Palermo and the city center. The four corners of the central street are curved, and if you look down from the sky, it is a circle. The baroque sculptures of the four building facades are all symmetrical. Each building has three floors. From bottom to top are the fountain sculptures representing the four seasons, the four Spanish kings of Sicily and the four guardians of Palermo.
Look at the corners of the square are people, the stools, the chairs are full of people, even the edge of the flower bed is filled with people, here, nothing, sit For those outside the city, it may be to look at novelty, and as the citizens of this city, it is more to come to the cold, or actively participate in the cultural life of this square.

Palermo is always a good option
Palermo, the gem of southern Italy
Usually people go to Italy for the north, like Milan or Genoa.
However, Palermo is a city you definitely don’t want to miss!
The mix between Islamic and European architecture is just beyond stunning. The food is cheap and affordable and the weather there is just fantastic. It was cool but not too cold.
The coffee there was one of the best, I can feel the fresh coffee beans they used! The history there was fascinating as well!
I would definitely recommend it to other people !
One falls in love with Italy again and again...

Palermo is beautiful 🏞️
#traveldiaries
My trip to Palermo, Sicily, was an incredible mix of culture, history, and delicious food. The city feels like a blend of ancient and modern, with its bustling streets and historical gems around every corner. I visited the Palermo Cathedral, which is free to enter but costs €5 for access to the roof. The views of the city from up there are breathtaking, and the architecture itself is stunning, a mix of Arab, Norman, and Gothic styles.
Wandering through the Ballarò Market was another highlight—full of vibrant colors, fresh produce, and street food like arancini and panelle. You could easily spend hours there, just eating and soaking in the atmosphere. I also stopped by the Norman Palace and the Palatine Chapel (€12 entry), a masterpiece of mosaics. Palermo’s lively streets, rich history, and mouth-watering cuisine made it a place I won’t forget! 🌿⛪🍋

Eusrostars palace hotels
Memories of travel. When I lived, it was called the Central Palace Hotel.. It seems that it has been acquired by Eurostar recently.. The hotel is located in the ZTL area. Pay attention to communicate with the hotel to avoid violations. This hotel was once the noble Palazzo Tarallo Palace of the 18th century, located in the center of Palermo, just a few steps from the magnificent cathedral and the famous Via Maqueda. The hotel used to be a magnificent aristocratic residence, in
After expert-level restoration in 2003, it regained its original glory. The decoration materials and furniture of the hotel have been carefully selected, and the original architectural style of the hotel is carefully preserved, so that the hotel has a special charming charm and unique personality. The main floor of the hotel is equipped with luxurious murals and precious antique furniture, creating a magical atmosphere like the novel "The Leopard". The hotel has 5 well-equipped conference rooms. Restaurant 1892 is an ideal place for lunch or dinner for various special events, as well as wedding receptions and buffets or dinners. The above is copied from ***.. This old hotel feels like walking in a maze. When I stayed there, I felt so-so in the guest room. I don't know how it is now.

Fountain of pretoria
#ancienttown
These statues are masterpieces of the Renaissance and the work of Francesco Camilliani, a famous sculptor in Florence. They were originally fountain statues in the garden of Luigi, a Spanish nobleman in Florence in the 16th century. They were sold to Palermo in 1573 due to moving.
At that time, the consul of Sicily was Luigi's brother, and the Palermo Parliament discussed the purchase of the fountain. The garden in Florence built the Palace of San Clemente after the fountain was demolished.
With the passage of time, this fountain was once criticized as a "fountain of shame" by the Taoists of the church built next to it.
Eerie and Fascinating: A Walk Through Palermo’s Capuchin Catacombs
#italytrip
For those fascinated by the macabre, Palermo’s Capuchin Catacombs offer an unparalleled experience. These underground tunnels, lined with the mummified bodies of monks, nobility, and everyday citizens, provide a haunting insight into Sicilian burial practices from the 16th century onwards. Over 8,000 bodies are preserved in various states of decay, many dressed in their finest clothes, creating an eerie yet fascinating tableau. The most famous resident is Rosalia Lombardo, a two-year-old girl whose remarkably well-preserved body has earned her the title “Sleeping Beauty.” Visiting the Catacombs is both an unsettling and reflective experience, forcing visitors to confront mortality while learning about a unique chapter in Palermo’s history. While not for the faint-hearted, it’s a must-see for those interested in unusual historical sites.
A Royal Experience at Palazzo dei Normanni and Cappella Palatina
#italytrip
Once the seat of the Kings of Sicily, the Palazzo dei Normanni is one of the most impressive royal residences in Italy. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases an extraordinary mix of Norman, Byzantine, and Arab art and architecture. The highlight of the palace is the Cappella Palatina, a stunning chapel adorned with glittering mosaics, Islamic-style wooden ceilings, and a richly decorated altar. Every inch of the chapel tells a story, from its intricate biblical scenes to the geometric Islamic designs. The Palazzo itself is equally impressive, housing the Sicilian Regional Assembly and several museums. It’s a place where Sicily’s multicultural past comes to life, offering visitors a glimpse into the grandeur of the Norman kings and the cultural crossroads that shaped Palermo’s identity.
Fontana Pretoria: The Fountain of Shame and Baroque Brilliance
#italytrip
Located in the center of Piazza Pretoria, this grandiose fountain is one of Palermo’s most recognizable landmarks. Known locally as the “Fountain of Shame” (Fontana della Vergogna) due to the nude statues of mythological figures that adorn it, the Fontana Pretoria was originally created in Florence before being relocated to Palermo in 1574. The fountain is an impressive piece of Renaissance art, featuring intricate sculptures of gods, goddesses, and animals, arranged in a circular tiered structure. The surrounding buildings, including the City Hall and several historic palaces, add to the fountain’s majestic presence. Despite its controversial reputation in the past, Fontana Pretoria is now admired for its artistic beauty and craftsmanship. A visit to this iconic fountain is a perfect opportunity to admire Palermo’s unique blend of Baroque architecture and public art, making it a must-see attraction during your city exploration.
Zisa Castle: A Glimpse into Palermo’s Arab-Norman Splendor
#italytrip
The Zisa Castle is a striking example of Palermo’s Arab-Norman architectural heritage, a UNESCO-recognized legacy unique to Sicily. Built in the 12th century as a summer palace for Norman kings, Zisa’s design was heavily influenced by Islamic architecture, featuring a rectangular layout, vaulted ceilings, and intricate geometric decorations. The name “Zisa” comes from the Arabic word “Al-Aziz,” meaning “the splendid,” which is fitting for such an elegant structure. Inside, you’ll find frescoes, mosaics, and a stunning central hall with a cooling water feature that once provided respite from the summer heat. Today, the castle houses the Museum of Islamic Art, where visitors can explore a rich collection of artifacts from Sicily’s Islamic period. Visiting Zisa Castle offers an immersive experience into the cultural melting pot that shaped Palermo’s history, making it an essential stop for history lovers.
