This place is very famous for its hot air balloon rides and sunrise. If you ever visit Bagan, don’t miss the sunrise and sunset. They are definitely breath taking!
#timetotravel #Myanmar #bagan
Take a horse-drawn carriage tour of Bagan's major stupas and watch a moving sunset
to the city of Bagan, the city of Wanfo. What you can't miss is to take a horse-drawn carriage to visit the big stupas and then watch a sunset!
We visited the Shwezigon Pagoda and the Htilominlo Temple, where many stupas were destroyed by the earthquake and are still being repaired, but it does not affect the visits of the people and the worship of the believers. !
At present, the Burmese government has banned the practice of climbing the stupa, so to watch the sunset, you can only go to a slightly higher slope! But fortunately, the sunset did not disappoint everyone! Drinking a can of Burmese beer against the beautiful sunset is a happy life!
Tips Bagan has hundreds of thousands of stupas, big and small, everyone can visit according to their own preferences! The price of the carriage parade is also different from your business according to your route and price!
Bagan, Myanmar: Ruixi Palace Tower
This golden pagoda is the oldest temple in Bagan. It is full of gold and golden. The tower stands on a tall square base, and the base is layered on top of each other. The Ruixi Palace Tower and the Ruiguang Dajin Tower are listed as the four major holy towers of Myanmar and are considered to be the most important holy places in Bagan.
This pagoda was built during the period of two kings, Anawrahta and Kyansittha. It is the founding tower of the Bagan dynasty, the source of the Burmese stupa, and a typical representative of early architecture.
Ri Xi Palace Tower is the founding tower, the prototype of the modern Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, one of the four most famous Buddhist pagodas in Myanmar. It is not only the largest pagoda in Bagan, but also the Bagan Pagoda. The only stone-built stupa has a long history and is the first Burmese-style stupa. Each side of the
tower three-story platform has a small square temple with a small bronze Buddha. The tower is dedicated to the Buddha relics and Buddha ornaments from India, so it is very famous among believers. After sunset, the stupa will light up, so the tourists who arrive at night or early in the morning, the first thing they see is it.
Ri Xi Gong Pagoda is the most significant building in the history of religious architecture in Myanmar, because after this the stupa of all over Myanmar was built as a plaque, and its relationship with the traditional Burmese religion and the development of the Hinayana Buddhism Play a very important role.
People with faith, the heart should be very pure!
The Rixi Palace Tower is not only one of the oldest, most spectacular, and the most towering towers in Myanmar. It is also the most meaningful building in the history of religious architecture in Myanmar. The only stone-built stupa in the Bagan Tower is the first. It has a Burmese-style stupa. The Ruixi Palace tower is a square symmetrical structure. The center is a bell-shaped golden pagoda. The bottom is the base of a three-story square platform. The top is an octagonal platform connected to the bell tower. The tower of more than 40 meters is covered with dazzling gold foil, which is golden in the sun and luxurious. The tower is dedicated to a Buddha tooth relic, a jade carving Buddha statue sent by the Chinese emperor, so it is the largest and most respected pagoda in Bagan. It is also one of the most pagodas in Myanmar. Every day, people who come to worship are wishing to flow. Make this ancient tower less quiet and more prosperous.
BAGAN AUREUM Palace Hotel resort & spa *****
Address - BAGAN right in the middle of the temples and pagodas. Great location, but clearly not in the city center
Ambiance/Facilities - Really calm cause no tourists, facilities are very beautiful and has a great potential to be a beautiful 5* but maybe needs a little maintenance.
Highlights - Infinity pool over the temples
Avg. Price per Person - at the season we went when Myanmar is still re-opening to tourism 130€/night
Rating - 4/5⭐️
The hotel is really amazing in terms of architecture, design and Location. The infinity pool with breathtaking views over the pagodas is definetly a must. It is not located in the town so taxi or e-bike rental is highly recommended.
The rooms are spacious and pretty clean but would be have expected more attention to detail for a 5* hotel - although the price paid was very accessible.
The diner food options are vaste and qualitative whereas the breakfast have a large selection but no bacon for example that would have much apreciated.
The only thing that we were surprised is the fact that staff speak very little English and the conversation can be very very difficult, when you don’t expect in a 5 star tourism hotel to happen - we stayed in a much lower key hotel in Inle lake and staff where absolutely fluent in English……

The temple is a massive, and all walled surrounded in forth and the temple is constructed since from 12th century. The temple is about 1600ft east of Shwesandaw and is infamous for its mysterious, bricked-up inner passageways and cruel history.
The king Narathu claimed the succession of Bagan throne by murdering his own king father and his elder brother, who had been chosen to become King, in cold blood.
Legend had it that the King felt guilty for what he did and was so worried about bad karma that he had the Dhammayangyi Temple constructed to gain merit and redeem for the sin of killing his father and elder brother.
According to legendary tales, King Narathu supervised the construction himself. He set the rule that workers would have their arms chopped or even be beheaded if they the brickworks were not perfectly fit without a gap between two given bricks.

The Ananda Temple, the first Buddhist temple in Bagan
Built in the 12th century, the Ananda Temple is not far from the Shwezigon Pagoda. These two temples are probably the most popular among the 3,000 pagodas and temples in Bagan. The architecture and sculptures of the Ananda Temple are more exquisite than those of the Shwezigon Pagoda, which makes me believe that it is the premier Buddhist temple in Bagan.
Let's compare the two temples:
The Shwezigon Pagoda places an early Indian-style stupa, like the Sanchi Stupa from the 3rd century BC during the reign of Emperor Ashoka, on a multi-tiered platform and covers it with gold leaf. This most traditional type of stupa, which does not contain Buddha statues, is a relic stupa. The platform symbolizes Mount Meru.
The Borobudur in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from the 8th and 9th centuries, also places stupas on a high platform, but there are many small stupas with seated Buddha statues inside. Of course, the pagodas commonly seen in China are another form.
I believe the prototype of the Ananda Temple is the later cave temple, which is also found in many early domestic caves, such as Dunhuang, Yungang, and Xiangtangshan. Caves are carved into the mountain walls, with a central stupa pillar in the middle, allowing for circumambulation or meditation in the carved niches. This style also comes from India, as seen in the famous Ajanta Caves.
The core design of the Ananda Temple is this central stupa pillar style, which is already a more complex upgraded version. The pillar part has tall Buddha statues in all four directions, and niches are opened on the surrounding corridors to place Buddha statues (but without any murals), and exquisite sculptures are placed on the exterior, which is particularly rare in Myanmar. On the other hand, the stupa and cave temple styles do not exclude each other; the roof of the Ananda Temple is decorated with many stupa-like structures with spires.
Of course, the Ananda Temple is not carved out of a mountain. On the vast plains of Bagan, mountains are rare and far away. I'm not saying it's a cave temple, but that it adopts the style of a cave temple.
After the Song Dynasty, Chinese people rarely carved cave temples, mainly focusing on building temples.
The national treasure cave temple in Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Silla in Korea (8th century), is more interesting. It is built on the mountainside, but because the granite is too hard, they built a cave temple with stones and placed a large seated Buddha inside. This shows the extent of imitation of Indian cave temples (through China).
Returning to the Ananda Temple, besides the architectural prototype, its doors and exterior sculptures are all in Indian style. Perhaps the entire temple was built in imitation of Indian temples (but by the 12th century, Buddhism had already declined in India), and it is even possible that Indian craftsmen were involved in the construction—however, this is speculation, as I do not have written materials about the temple at hand. But one thing is certain: after the Ananda Temple was damaged by an earthquake in 1975, the restoration work was done by an Indian archaeological team, as evidenced by an exhibition room in the temple.
The temple's name, Ananda, is that of one of Buddha's ten great disciples, Ananda, who is known as the foremost in hearing, and is commonly seen in Chinese temples; the word means 'joy' in Sanskrit and other Indian languages. Ananda was Buddha's cousin and the attendant who took care of Buddha's daily needs for the last twenty-five years of his life. Therefore, he heard many of Buddha's teachings and, with his extraordinary memory, recited scriptures that became an important basis during the first Buddhist council after Buddha's nirvana.
It is not surprising that important temples are named Ananda, because Buddhists, especially Burmese Buddhists, highly revere the scriptures. In the National Museum of Myanmar and the Cultural Museum of Mandalay Palace, I saw particularly many artifacts related to scriptures, such as treasure scrolls made of various materials, treasure boxes for storing scrolls, and palanquins for carrying scrolls, and so on.
In the courtyard of the Ananda Temple, there is also a Bodhi tree, under which there is a circle of statues, which I guess are the Indian zodiac.

Shwezikone temple 🛕🙏
#timetotravel
The Shwezigon pagoda is one of the oldest and most impressive monuments of Bagan. Most noticeable is the huge gold plated pagoda glimmering in the sun. The design of the Shwezigon pagoda has been copied many times across Burma over the centuries.
After dark the pagoda is wonderfully illuminated by spotlights that give the place a mystical atmosphere. The Shwezigon was damaged by several earthquakes including the large 1975 quake, but has been restored since.

Sinphyushin temple was built by King Thihathu or Sinphyushin of Pinya. It is a cave-type Indian style based monument. There is also an upper level. The inner walls of the temple are full of ancient mural paintings. Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. Bagan Tourism chooses to live in Bagan Alem Palace Resort. It should be the best hotel in Bagan. It is an average of 300 US dollars a night. It is like being surrounded by ancient temples. It is surrounded by ancient temples. It is really enjoyable. .
Bagan Alem Palace Resort is really very large. From the observation deck you can see a whole row of villa areas and there are multiple swimming pools. Its amazing to walk into the room. The standard room is really big. The sofas and decorations of the logs are said to be made of teak. It is not only a double bed, but also a sofa and balcony for the guests. It is really extravagant.
is still a wet and dry shared bathroom with a bathtub. The only thing that is not used to it is that the lights here are dark, and the bathroom door is the old folding door, very retro.
The resort is to have a good time. The outside of the restaurant is a swimming pool, with a meal, listening to the birds singing, and the unique sound of Burmese. The breakfast here is Western-style. If you are not used to eating more bread, you can do it very well here.
Tallinn is also opposite the swimming pool, which is reflected in the swimming pool. It is very beautiful. It is also a good place to take pictures. Don't miss it.
Tallinn was found in the evening of the previous day, about 500 meters from the hotel. Keep in mind, use the meal and hurry to explore. Good luck, this time the clouds gradually spread out, with a little blue sky appearing, a beam of sunshine shines on this Tallinn, very solemn.
One of the four great Buddhist pagodas in Myanmar - Ruixi Palace Tower
Ruixi Palace Tower is the earliest unified Burma dynasty of the Ang Thong Tuo Dynasty in Burma, is also the oldest palace tower in Bagan, also famous in Myanmar One of the four great stupas.
The statue of the Ruixi Palace tower before the entry is mighty and domineering. Entering the Ruixi Palace Tower, you need to go through a long corridor with many stalls on the promenade.
This Rixi Palace tower is a stone-built stupa with a square symmetrical structure and a central solid bell tower in the center. The shape is based on a three-story square platform. There are bronze pavilions on each side of the tower. There is a beautiful Buddha standing in the pavilion. There are lion carvings, Mojaro carvings and carvings around them.
still turns around the tower clockwise, looking at such a beautiful pagoda, after hundreds of years, still well preserved, it is rare.
The Manuha Temple was built by the king of the Bagan dynasty and is one of the most important temples in Bagan. As a imprisoned king, it is also possible to build a temple named after himself, which has to be said to be both surprising and curious. Manuha Temple is a small temple, but the incense is very prosperous. There are three large Buddha statues, one reclining Buddha, two sitting Buddhas, and huge Buddha statues. People need to look up, especially the one. The reclining Buddha almost fills the entire space, so that your passage in the brick wall can only pass sideways. That kind of huge squeaky feeling is easy to think of a depressed mood in the heart of the prince who built the tower. And such congestion is presumably because the funds were insufficient when the temple was built, and this very "grievance" temple was built. This seemingly modern temple has a history of nearly a thousand years. Due to the roadside, there are a lot of people here. Domestic tourists and tourists from other places like to go in and out, especially some locals. The children, who love to play in it, those little energetic figures add vitality to the ancient temples and drive away the boring.
It is very simple to fall in love with Liangruis temple. Because of the golden stupa that spreads throughout the city, because of the happy and enthusiastic monks in the temple, and the sacred Dharma, the great teachings of helping others.
When you walk in, you can abandon all your troubles and quietly enjoy the simplicity and beauty of this simple world. The smile that often lingers on the face of the person can't help but make it move.
