Shwe Zigon Pagoda of Ancient Bagan

#newyearnewtrip #myanmar #bagan Shwe Zigon Pagoda is one of Bagan’s most popular pagoda. In local tradition, there are 4 Pagodas and if you visit them on the same day, you get blessings. (it’s not as easy as it sounds because for one, you have to cross the ayerwaddy river and hike a mountain) Regardless, this pagoda was built by the founder of the Bagan empire itself and the work was continued by the next king of the Empire. The Pagoda truly has a lot of wonders, it is thought to enshrine Buddha’s tooth and bone also. I wish I could write more about this but I am unfortunately not as well versed. However, there are local children there that would love to explain the history and culture to you in your language (they know a lot) for a price as low as $3. I would love for you to support them as this is how they make their livelihood, they also take great photographs! My family and I presented some offerings (2nd pic) and prayed for a while.
