The Peitian ancient residential complex is ingeniously designed, unique in style, made of fine materials and with exquisite craftsmanship, forming a Hakka architectural model of "nine halls and eighteen courtyards" with multiple halls and courtyards where clans live together. The powerful drainage design of the Nine Halls and Eighteen Wells allows rainwater to fall from the patio through the sloping tiles and then be collected and drained from the canals around the courtyard. This cleverly relieves drainage pressure and also has the meaning of gathering wealth. The gate of each courtyard is designed with stream stones in the shape of ancient copper coins. There are half a copper coin inside and outside the gate, which is full of the business wisdom of the Hakka people: "give half of the money you earn to others and keep the other half for yourself."
The entire village is distributed in a strip shape, surrounded by mountains and water, with villages formed along the stream. There is not much commercialization here, with only a few shops and stalls open for business. Most of the residents are locals, and some villagers still live in old houses, so don't disturb them. The new village is at the other end of the old site and is also worth a visit. Here, you will deeply experience the tranquility of the village and the thickness of its history, and feel the unique charm of Hakka culture!
