【Kelantan】Kuala Krai: A historical town suitable for exploration and leisure
#ItinerarySharing
#KualaKrai is so fun
Since being stuck in West Malaysia in 2020, I have nothing to do, so I visit Kelantan once a year.
This time I revisited Kelantan and chose to take a different route to visit some unpopular towns. The first stop was Kuala Krai.
Kuala Krai is a rather unfamiliar place to most people. This small place gave birth to an internationally renowned designer: Zang Toi.
Kuala Krai is a really small town, so small that there is hardly any light at night, and it seems to be swallowed up by the darkness.
Nevertheless, if you are interested in history, you may want to visit this historical town.
let's go! 🏃♀️🏃
👉Kuala Krai Train Station
The train-loving cat will never miss a train station when he sees one and will go there to check in. The East Coast Rail in Kelantan is very famous. I will come back to experience it if I have the chance.
👉Krai Stairs
Kuala Krai's history began in the 1920s with the construction of the East Coast Railway.
In the early days, Kuala Krai was a paradise and the main means of transportation for local residents was the Kelantan River, which was used to transport goods.
Later, in order to cooperate with the construction of the railway, the British built the 81-step Krai Stairs from 1927 to 1929 to facilitate local residents to go up and down.
The Krai Stairs, 53 meters above sea level, were originally named after Bradley, a British official at the time, and were called Bradley Stairs. They were renamed Krai Stairs in 1984 and are still in use today.
Because it is located at the junction of rivers, floods often occur. There are many instruments for measuring flood levels standing next to the stairs, which is shocking to see.
Walk down 81 steps to the end, where there is a small floating restaurant and a small waiting area for the boat.
It only costs RM1 to take a boat to the other side. It goes around the river and you can negotiate the price with the boatman. If you have nothing to do, it’s not bad to take a boat trip down the river.
👉Kuala Krai Museum
There are many museums in Kelantan that will amaze cats, especially those that record the history of World War II, with quite complete information.
Although the Kuala Krai Museum is located in a small place in Ulu, the collection inside is quite rich and surprising. Zang Toi’s achievements are also included in the celebrity directory.
👉Krai Lakeside Park
Before leaving Kuala Krai, there is a small lakeside park on the left, which is a good place for locals to relax and jog. There is also a zoo next to it, which is under renovation.
The yellowish green water in Lakeside Park is very different from the color of other lakes.
For some reason, when the cat drove away, its impression of Kuala Krai was this pool of green and yellow water.
