Sighnaghi old city Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
City of Love ❤️
#georgia #momentsmission #travelinspiration #unforgettableexperiences Sighnaghi, also known as the city of love, is one of the smallest towns in Georgia but is also one of the most attractive ones. It’s got its romantic name because of the wedding house which is open 24/7 and a couple may get married there any time of the day (useful tip for those who are in a rush 😉).
Apart from that, the city itself is very beautiful, cozy and romantic. The cobblestone and narrow streets make you feel like you are somewhere in Europe. There are lots of small stores where you can buy traditional goods and treats; cozy cafes and restaurants with delicious food; nice and comfortable hotels overlooking the Alazani Valley. Definitely worth visiting. If you go to any restaurant there, trying traditional Kakheti barbecue is a must.

Bodbe's St. Nino's Convent Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Georgia's off-the-beaten-path attraction, the Shavnabada Monastery.
May Day travel destination recommendation: Saint Nino Monastery in Georgia.
St. Nino is the saint who led Georgia to convert to Christianity. It is said that this is the place where she was buried.
From the town of Sigunaji to the monastery, it takes about an hour to walk (don't ask me how I know 😂). There are motorcycles and four-wheel drive vehicles for rent in the town, about 10 lari. It is recommended to rent a car to go there. Don't be like me, foolishly hiking up the mountain alone to save money 💰, and end up not seeing a single person along the way. Honestly, it was a bit scary.
🤩There are some small vendors selling handmade bags, hats, carpets and other handicrafts at the entrance of the monastery. If you need them, you can buy some.
💰Ticket: Free
🚃Transportation: Google search "Bodbe Monastery for Women" for navigation.
Wine country, Sighnaghi.
Saignon, the world-famous wine region. Pink houses, flat pebble roads, vintage old buildings... everywhere here is filled with a romantic atmosphere. From the small town, you can also overlook the vast Alpilles mountains.
This small town, described by "Lonely Planet" as very beautiful in the Kakheti region, has a history dating back to the second half of the 18th century. Sighnaghi was built by a capable ruler of Georgia in the 18th century. The purpose of construction was to protect the locals from raids by the Caucasus mountain people and to attract Armenian merchants and artisans to promote the economy of Georgia. Today, most of the ancient city walls and 23 towers are still preserved.
📍Transportation: Take the subway to Samgori station in the city center, the subway fare is 0.5 lari. After getting off the subway, walk through the underground passage to the bus station, where you can ask locals for the specific boarding location. Then take a mini-bus to reach Sighnaghi, the fare is 7 lari and the journey takes about 2 hours.
📝Sig Nagi's last bus back to Tbilisi city center is at 6pm, don't miss the return time, buddies.
🧗♂️Seginaggi can play Jungle Leap, and the cost is 50 Lari per time.
⛪️If you want to go to Bodbe Monastery, you can choose to rent a 4-wheel drive or motorcycle in the town and drive there, or you can walk there, which takes about 40 minutes to the church. However, single women are not recommended to walk because there are basically no people on the road.
The most beautiful monastery in Georgia, the scenery is comparable to the small Switzerland! The beauty of the European fairy tale
to Georgia for a few days, occasionally encountered countless beautiful scenery, the monastery is one of them. When I got off the bus, I thought that I came to Switzerland, and there was a lot of snow in the wild. The twin towers lie between the blue sky, the forest and the valley, like a fairy tale dream.
In my opinion, the monastery is the footnote of time, inscribed in the past. Just as the 18th century Georgian monarch Heraclius II ordered the construction of the city, a circle of "Great Wall" was built to defend the Dagestan tribe in the northeast.
For thousands of years, time has always been silent. Today's monasteries, including two churches, a bell tower and tombs, have become the most sought after ancient buildings with a touch of Tuscan charm.
About shooting: Perhaps because of the female saint, Bodbo Monastery is a woman's monastery. At 10 o'clock in the morning, the door will be officially opened, and the nuns of the whole body will appear on time, and visitors will be able to visit.
About customs: Into the monastery, you must follow the dress code. Women should use a headscarf to wrap their heads. If they wear pants, use a scarf around the pants. A basket of such headscarves will be provided at the church door. Take it.

Sighnagi National Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Love Town - Signagi
It's the 3rd stop on our journey through Georgia, and we've arrived at Signagi, the birthplace of wine, also known as 'Love Town'. The entire town is nestled at the foot of snow-capped mountains, making it incredibly romantic.
Here's a complete guide on how to get there, what to do, what to eat, and where to stay, shared with everyone!
How to get there
Take a taxi from the old town to Navtlugi intercity bus terminal, and upon arrival, someone will ask if you're heading to Sighnaghi.
The minibus costs 10 GEL per person, seats about 26 people, and departs at 9/11 AM every day. It leaves when full, so don't cut it close, or you might not get a seat.
The minibus conditions are quite basic, even a bit poor, and it takes 2 hours to reach the destination. The return times are at 4/6 PM, also leaving when full, so arrive at the station half an hour early to wait.
What to do
① Signagi Museum: A museum that tells the story of Georgian ethnography, tribal life, and traditional culture.
② Okro's Wine: A family restaurant where you can taste a variety of wine flavors. The atmosphere is particularly inviting, filled with the owner's care. The food is made to order, with the pork chops being especially delicious. You can also enjoy the view of the town and the mountains from the window seats.
③ St. Stephen Church: A dilapidated old church guarded by an elderly person, with an entrance fee of 1 GEL per person.
④ Cafemedea: Must-try red wine ice cream for 7 GEL, located below a fortress, offering a panoramic view of the town.
⑤ St. George Basilica: A landmark building of the town, but it seems not open for inside visits.
⑥ Signagi City Walls: The Great Wall surrounding the town, the largest fortress in the South Caucasus region.
If you still have time, you can walk back the way you came to a viewpoint on the mountainside to see the entire town; or you can take a taxi to Bodbe Monastery, about 3 kilometers away, which is the resting place of Saint Nino and attracts thousands of worshippers every year.
What to eat
In addition to the above, if you walk towards the city walls to the end, there are many restaurants where you can dine with a view.
Where to stay
Signagi is quite small, so there's no need to stay unless necessary. If you do want to stay, there are also many small hotels.
