Zigong Lantern Festival: Step into a Bustling Lantern Market from a Thousand Years Ago

This year, I was invited to the Zigong Lantern Festival again. Every year during the Spring Festival, a dreamlike and bustling lantern city suddenly stands in this small city in southern Sichuan. The lantern designs this year are also amazing, with magnificent palaces and grand scenes. Many themes are found in traditional culture and expressed romantically with modern materials and technology. The lanterns are dazzling but not confusing, and the giant objects are delightful, as if the heavenly court is celebrating the New Year, with an advanced color scheme belonging to Chinese tradition. But you should know that the pavilions, mythical beasts, figures, and exotic flowers and plants in the pictures are all lanterns, strictly speaking, lanterns. It is now very convenient to go to Zigong, as it only takes 40 minutes to take the high-speed train from Tianfu Airport.
