From coffee shop to deserted garden, what has it been through?

||| Many people are familiar with two of Zhuhai's three famous gardens: Gongle Garden and Meixi Archway. However, Qixia Xianguan, located next to the Guangdong Provincial Historical and Cultural Village of Huitong Village, is less known. This century-old Lingnan garden was once transformed into a coffee shop, but when I visited, it had returned to silence...😔 — Qixia Xianguan was built by Mo Yongyu, the grandson of Mo Shiyang, a Chinese comprador (originally from Huitong Village) for the Hong Kong-based Taikoo Company. In 1910, to commemorate his first wife, Zheng Yuxia, Mo Yongyu spent 1,000 taels of silver to purchase a 30-mu orchard in Huitong Village and build Qixia Xianguan. All the building materials for this Chinese-Western-style garden complex were shipped in from Hong Kong or overseas. It featured Mengxiang Pavilion, Nianjing Hall, a living room, a kitchen, a power room, a garage, pavilions, rockeries, Guanyin Pond, and a garden planted with rare flowers and trees🌳. Every detail exuded refinement. — Over the past century, this garden has served as a hospital, a military station, a school, and a factory, and was abandoned for a long time. Ten years ago, the Zhongshan-Zhuhai-Macao Mo Clan Association raised funds to renovate Xianguan and, entrusted by the owner, took over its management, transforming it into a popular coffee shop.
