Henan Science and Technology Museum—A Real Experience with Kids

Science and technology museums, art museums, and history museums have always been our go-to places with kids. This was our first time visiting the new Henan Science and Technology Museum, and it was pretty good. The kids had a lot of fun. Click on the free ones first. The longest movie is about 40 minutes, and the shortest is 6 minutes. Try to get the free tickets first, and then arrange other paid movies for the remaining time. Tickets are about 30 yuan per person. Children also need tickets, regardless of age or height. You need to buy tickets for each person. For the Flight Cinema, children must be at least 120cm tall. Almost all the theaters are located under the spherical building on the first basement level. The Dome Cinema is on the second floor. The Science Show is on the second floor in the Exploration and Discovery area. Keep walking, and when you see "Into the World of Matter," keep going straight, and it's at the very end. There will be live science experiment shows. Upon entering, the first floor is the Animal Exhibition Hall. It takes about 30 minutes. It's not very big, and there aren't many interactive exhibits. Based on our experience, it's best to visit this area before leaving. Set aside at least two hours for the Creation Space on the second floor. It's recommended to book two movies in the morning that are also showing in the afternoon. By then, it will almost be lunchtime. You can bring your own food for lunch. If you don't want to, there are various food stalls at the museum entrance. You can ask the staff to stamp your hand so you can go out to eat and come back in. There's a Starry Sky Restaurant under the spherical building (first basement level) where you can buy food by weight for 2.6 yuan per 50 grams. It's not very cheap, but the food is decent, and the sausages are good. There's hot water available in the museum, so you can bring instant noodles. There are no movies before 2pm, so you can spend this time exploring the Creation Space. Reserve at least 2 hours for the Exploration and Discovery area on the second floor. It's best to schedule the Dome Cinema for the afternoon to avoid going up and down. You can explore the Discovery area, watch the Science Show, and then watch a movie in the Dome Cinema. That will pretty much take up the whole day.
