Xijin Ferry

Xijin Ferry is located at the foot of Yuntai Mountain in the northwest of Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is an ancient street about 800 meters long, with a total area of about 6 hectares. It is a historical site built on the Panshan plank road and is known as the "Museum of Ancient Chinese Ferries" by Mr. Luo Zhewen, an expert on ancient Chinese architecture. Xijin Ferry has a history of more than 1,400 years. It was first built in the Three Kingdoms period and was called "Suanshan Ferry". During the Six Dynasties period, the ferry route was fixed between Jingkou (now Zhenjiang) and Guangling (now Yangzhou). Since the Tang Dynasty, it has had a complete ferry function. Since the 1980s, in order to promote ferry culture, Zhenjiang City has repaired, protected, and utilized the ancient street of Xijin Ferry and its surrounding areas. On April 29, 2008, the Xijin Ferry Historical and Cultural Block was officially opened to the public.
