City Wall

Heading west in Spain ～ Zamora (Region) Passing through the historical center of the city, we see that other places are part of the city wall. It is one of the most important historical monuments in the city. The earliest part dates back to the 11th century, with the first wall predating the Roman era, serving as a defensive area of the fortress. The wall evolved over time, expanding during the Arab era and being modified in the Christian era. Currently, the facades of the walls from the 11th to the 14th centuries have been preserved. The well-preserved parts of the wall we see correspond to the Puerta de Doña Urraca and the Puerta del Obispo.
