You have to look for these parasitic super fungi from the head of caterpillars. The fungus parasitizes inside the larva, absorbing its nutrients to grow. Because it only grows at very high altitudes, it is very rare and difficult to harvest. Besides the mushrooms from Yunnan, China, which are famous far and wide, There are also Heilongjiang's original mushrooms, Jilin's red grinding mushrooms, Liaoning's hazel grinding mushrooms, Xinjiang's Bachu mushrooms, Biyang flower mushrooms... We picked these mushrooms and brought them back, Not only did we make mushroom soup, But we also made chicken stew with mushrooms! On August 15th to 16th every year, the Matsutake Festival is held in Genekha. Genekha is about a 45-minute drive from Thimphu. Additionally, on August 23rd to 24th every year, Ura in Bumthang, which is about an 8-hour drive from Thimphu, also holds a Mushroom Festival. During the festival, a series of experiences and activities will be held, including mushroom picking, delicious mushroom feasts, local cultural performances, and local sports activities that tourists can also participate in.
