The freehand brushwork of Chinese paintings is hidden in the mountains and rivers of Hongcun.

My impression of Hongcun has always been that it is a heavily commercialized ancient town, but only after seeing it with my own eyes did I understand why it is called the village in Chinese paintings. If spring and summer in Jiangnan belong to Suzhou and Hangzhou, then autumn and winter in Jiangnan belong to Hongcun. The distant mountains are like ink, and the nearby waters are like smoke. It is a Chinese painting in ink and color, and a village in the world of mortals. With such a scene, who can say that Anhui is not Jiangnan? 🗺Attractions: Nanhu Lake — Nanhu Academy — Moon Pond — Chengzhi Hall — Shuren Hall — Taoyuanju — Ancient Tree at the Village Entrance 🕰Time: 3–4 hours 🎫Tickets: Normally CNY 104 (valid for two days) Previously, if you took the high-speed train to "Yixian East Station" and got off, you could enter Hongcun for free. Hongcun is also free every Wednesday. 🚄How to get there: If you depart from Huangshan High-speed Railway Station (Huangshan North Station), you can find a shuttle bus to Hongcun at the tourist transportation hub next to the high-speed railway station. The operating hours are 9:35–18:00, with one bus every hour. The fare is CNY 30, and the journey takes 50 minutes. If you depart from the airport, you can take Bus 19 first, then get off at the passenger station. The fare is CNY 2. Then take a shuttle bus to Hongcun at the passenger station, and you will arrive in about 70 minutes. 1. Nanhu Lake It is the lake you can see when you enter Hongcun, and it is the meeting lake. The painting bridge across the lake is where Li Mubai led his horse in the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." The most graceful painting in Jiangnan is displayed here. 2. Moon Pond The most beautiful parts of Hongcun are Moon Pond and Nanhu Lake. The whole shape of Hongcun is like a cow, and Moon Pond is the cow's stomach, located in the center of the ancient village. The most beautiful time of Moon Pond should be at sunrise and sunset, especially at sunrise when there are fewer people. 3. Old Time Cafe At the Old Time Cafe next to Moon Pond, buy a cup of coffee and sit by the window on the second floor. Whether it is sunny, rainy, or cloudy, it has a unique charm. 4. Ancient Tree at the Village Entrance There are two ancient trees that are 500 years old. One is called a Chinese wingnut tree, which is called a red poplar tree locally; the other is called a ginkgo tree, which is called a white fruit tree locally. These two big trees are the "horns" of this cow-shaped village, the "feng shui trees" of Hongcun, and a symbol of good luck.
