Fireworks in March: Escaping the Crowds at Slender West Lake in Yangzhou

Li Bai truly is a timeless travel recommender. His line, "My old friend leaves the west from Yellow Crane Tower, amidst fireworks in March he descends to Yangzhou," leads to Yangzhou being "besieged" by armies of tourists every year. So, to avoid the crowds, enhance my travel experience, and increase my photo opportunities, I had to do the opposite. 1️⃣ Enter the park at 7 am sharp. Overcome all obstacles and make sure you enter the park right when it opens at 7 am. This way, you can avoid the tour groups and most of the other tourists, greatly enhancing your experience. 2️⃣ I chose the West Gate to North Gate route. Most people choose the classic Qianlong Emperor route from South Gate to West Gate, so I decided to enter from the West Gate. After enjoying the picturesque scenery of the Twenty-Four Bridges, with its flowing water and graceful willows, I headed north to places like the Lake Plum Grove and Cherry Blossom Valley for photos. Sure enough, I avoided the crowds. Ultimately, everywhere will be crowded. If you want fewer people, you have to make some sacrifices. The photos were taken on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
