Xuzhou Museum

My first stop in Xuzhou was the Xuzhou Museum. As a National First-Class Museum, it's currently hosting the "Treasures of a Thousand Miles: Bashu Bronze Civilization Special Exhibition," which I couldn't miss. I also took the opportunity to visit the nearby Qianlong Imperial Palace. The Xuzhou Museum boasts a rich collection of cultural relics, particularly those from the Han and Ming dynasties, forming a relatively complete system. Here you can find the famous gold-threaded jade suit, silver-threaded jade suit, and copper-threaded jade suit. The silver-threaded jade suit was unearthed from the earthen-hill Han tomb of a prince. These different types of Han Dynasty jade artifacts are exquisitely crafted, perfectly showcasing the unique style of the Han Dynasty. The colorful figurines are diverse and vibrant. The "Treasures of a Thousand Miles: Bashu Bronze Civilization Special Exhibition" is located in a special exhibition hall on the first floor of the museum, bringing together numerous exquisite cultural relics. The Sanxingdui and Jinsha relics on display are undoubtedly the biggest highlights. Stepping into the exhibition hall is like entering a mystical world where humans and gods dance together, with bronze wares of various shapes coming into view. A closer look reveals the unique and marvelous shapes of the Sanxingdui bronzes, their distinctive textures, the small braids behind the heads of the bronze figures, and the hollow, cylindrical bronze human figures. These artifacts are full of mystery, evoking thoughts of other dimensions and inspiring admiration for the imagination and creativity of the ancient Shu civilization. Just a few dozen meters east of the museum is the Qianlong Imperial Palace, which could be considered an "annex" to the museum. The Qianlong Imperial Palace holds significant historical value, as the Qianlong Emperor visited Xuzhou four times during his six tours of Southern China. He came partly to manage flood control, but also because he genuinely loved Xuzhou. In this park, the charm of history is even more profound, and the scenery is dreamlike. It's no wonder the Qianlong Emperor favored this place.
