Qinghai-Gansu Grand Loop 9-Day Self-Driving Tour (Part 4) ——Xining Nanshan Park After visiting the Ta'er Monastery on August 13, 2023, we drove 30 kilometers, which took about 30 minutes, and arrived at Xining Nanshan Park at 5 pm. Nanshan Park is a good place for Xining citizens to relax and have fun. When we arrived, there were many people in the park, some were exercising, some were walking their children, and some were drinking tea and chatting. As you enter the park, you will see a large flower bed with colorful flowers welcoming visitors. There is also a giant billboard inside with eight big red characters reading "Happy Xining, Charming Nanshan" on it. When we got to the top of the mountain, we saw that the park was lush and green everywhere, with a gentle breeze and it wasn't hot at all. Standing on a high place, you can have a panoramic view of the Xining city, with tall buildings and overpasses extending in all directions, presenting a prosperous scene. In the northwest of the park there is a small hill with a platform on it and a pavilion on the top, named Phoenix Terrace. There is a horizontal plaque on the pavilion with the words "Hehuang Yinfeng" written on it. This 30-meter-high Phoenix Tower, with its phoenix spreading its wings and white sails, symbolizes the rapid development of economic development and various undertakings. When we arrived, it was already past 6 o'clock and the staff had already gone off work, so we did not go up. It is said that the pavilion preserves many calligraphy works by famous calligraphers. It was a pity that I was not able to see them. One of the couplets reads, "Phoenix comes back to see the renovation of the ancient city, and the smoke-filled scenery of thousands of houses is all in sight; the Huangshui River flows eastward, and one feels the vicissitudes of life and the great achievements of the ages, and takes in the whole process."
