The former residence of Liu Xizai, a great scholar!

Upon arriving at the "Former Residence of Liu Xizai", the front door faces east and the west. Upon entering the gate, you will see a spacious and bright living room facing north and south. The hall is hung with the "Xing Jing Qing Yi" plaque written by Emperor Xianfeng, and the interior is simple and elegant. The inner part is the place where Liu Xizai read books - the ancient Tong Book House, a small patio, with trees, flowers, and wells. The steps in front of the door are a 4-meter-long Han white jade stone, which is rare and should be precious. The wing room contains an introduction to Liu Xizai and the cultural relics and materials of his works such as "Outline". Liu Xizai (1813-1881), a Qing Dynasty literary scholar, was a scholar in the Daoguang period. He served as the left Chunfang and the left Zhongyun, and the Guangdong Xuezheng. Later, he lectured at the Shanghai Longmen Academy for many years. He was a literary theorist and linguist in the 19th century in China. It is said that Liu was once the teacher of Emperor Xianfeng. Among the many historical celebrities in Xinghua, his knowledge can be described as extensive and profound. He not only studied classics, history, articles, poetry, quatrains, and calligraphy, but also had a deep understanding of astronomy, elementary school, and algorithms. He believes that in the creation and appreciation of calligraphy, it is clear that any contradictory elements in a style are both opposite and unified, and the distinction between beauty and ugliness is the same. Therefore, Liu is also known as the "Oriental Hegel". The "Former Residence of Liu Xizai" is located at the west end of Xinghua Mansion Street, about 200 meters away from Xinghua Sipailou, and no admission fee is charged.
