Exploring the Ancient Temples of Wuxi: Hengshan Temple

Located at the foot of Xuelang Mountain, Hengshan Temple was established during the Chunxi period of the Southern Song Dynasty, and has a history of over 800 years, making it one of the top ten ancient temples in Wuxi. Compared to "Nanzen Temple", "Hengshan Temple" is much quieter. Although there is a constant stream of tourists visiting Xuelang Mountain, not many enter the temple. From a distance, there is also an ancient building on the top of Xuelang Mountain. After asking the staff, it turns out that the peak is also part of Hengshan Temple, although it is unclear if it is the original site. The "Hengshan Temple" at the mountain's base has a very open front entrance and brightly colored architecture, likely due to recent renovations. Looking beyond the back of Hengshan Temple, there is a stone stairway leading up the mountain, and next to it, there appear to be tombstones. It is uncertain whether the incense burned in the temple can bring a better afterlife to the spirits on the mountain.
