Haixia Military Theme Park

Haixia Military Theme Park is located in Haixia Village, Dongtou District, at the northeastern tip of Dongtou Island. It was originally called Guancai'ao (pronounced "ao"), and was the site of the last battle for the liberation of Dongtou. It is now a comprehensive park integrating military experience, leisure, and entertainment. "Guancai'ao" was a remote and poor place, and was originally an isolated island. A trench separated it from Dongtou Island. When the tide rose, there was no way to get through, and only when the tide receded could people wade across the beach. Therefore, the terrain was dangerous, easy to defend, and difficult to attack. On the night of January 11, 1952, our army landed on Dongtou and launched a fierce attack on the Kuomintang troops entrenched on the island. They quickly controlled the entire Dongtou Island, and the enemy retreated to Guancai'ao. On January 15, our army occupied the highest peak of Guancai'ao, and everyone cheered for the victory of the last battle for the liberation of Dongtou. To commemorate the liberation of Dongtou, Guancai'ao was renamed "Shengliao'ao", and soon after, the "Victory Bridge" was built at the beach crossing at the head of the ao. Haixia Military Theme Park was completed in September 2002, and consists of eight major projects, including "Haixia Studio", "Shooting Drill", "Huashan Dangerous Road", "Battlefield Mine Detection", "Jungle Battle Road", "Forest Climbing", "National Defense Knowledge Gallery", and "Military Equipment Exhibition Room". The park also displays retired fighter jets and artillery. There are many sentry towers, bunkers, and trenches in the park. The theme park has become a patriotic education base in Wenzhou and a famous red tourism route in Dongtou District. 🚉Transportation: It is recommended to drive there. Vehicles can drive to the innermost part of the park, and parking is free. ⏳Time needed: Tickets are required for admission, priced at CNY 55. The visit takes 1–2 hours.
