Family Trip to Taizhou｜5 Days 4 Nights Self-Driving Itinerary (For Families with Elders and Kids)

During summer vacation, we drove from Shanghai to Taizhou with parents and children, and compiled this family-friendly 5-day 4-night guide. The route is designed as Shanghai - Wenling Shitang - Linhai - Tiantai Mountain - Shanghai, going from far to near, making the drive less tiring. 🏨 Accommodation Tested: Wenling Youyuan Homestay (200 RMB/night during summer vacation, twin beds are both 1.5 meters wide, suitable for families. The homestay is clean, the owner is enthusiastic, and the surrounding facilities are complete) Linhai Chonghemen Qingju (Under Atour, family room 540 RMB, rich breakfast, laundry service is very practical!) Tiantai Mountain Lujing Hotel (Highly recommended! 999 RMB for two nights package including travel photography, plus a guided tour of Guoqing Temple, spacious family rooms, and a wide variety of breakfast) 🚗 Daily Itinerary: D1: Depart Shanghai at 7 AM, arrive in Wenling at 2 PM. After resting, go to Qilin Mountain at 4:30 PM to watch the sunset. D2: Morning at the Couple Ring Platform + Coastal Greenway, after lunch drive to Linhai. Dinner with seafood feast + Xing Shanmen night view. D3: Taizhou Prefecture City Wall (Chenghuang Gate above, Chaotian Gate below) - Ziyang Street snacks - East Lake. Check out at 4 PM and head to Tiantai Mountain. D4: Hotel Guoqing Temple exploration activity (2.5 hours, fun and not tiring), afternoon travel photography, seafood dinner. D5: Easy return trip, depart before noon back to Shanghai. Family Tips: Visit attractions in the morning when energy is high, travel in the afternoon so elders and kids can rest in the car. Adjust Wenling hiking activities flexibly based on elders’ stamina. The sea view is especially beautiful on good weather days, remember to check the weather forecast in advance!
