Explore the Filming Location of Downton Abbey: Harewood in Leeds

Take the 36 bus from Leeds city center to Harewood, which is about a 40-minute ride. When boarding, ask the driver for a voucher, which is essentially your bus ticket. This voucher allows you to purchase a half-price ticket to the estate, costing £11.25 (recently increased due to Christmas). The bus fare is £2. After alighting, follow the navigation to Harewood, a 5-minute walk to the estate entrance. There is a small blackboard at the entrance with a phone number (01132181000) to call for a free shuttle service. However, on our visit, they were busy, so we walked in, which took about 10 minutes. Once inside, there is a shuttle service available, but it's not really necessary as everything is quite close. The main attractions are the house and the back garden; other sights can be explored using the estate map. ⏰ It's recommended to spend 2-3 hours here and to arrive early, as it gets dark by 4 PM during winter, with last entry at 3:30 PM and closing at 5 PM. Consider having brunch before heading over. 🎄 Recently, the house was decorated for Christmas, but the festive lights inside felt a bit low-key, reminiscent of a karaoke bar, lacking the classical beauty. There are some Christmas markets outside selling various items, but overall, it's not as entertaining as expected. It's more about taking photos at the house, and it doesn't quite compare to Chinese aristocratic gardens like those in Suzhou.
