Wat Lieb, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Wat Lieb is an important temple because it is related to two monks who are the origin of the Kammatthana lineage, namely Luang Pu Sao Kantasilo and Luang Pu Man Phurithatto. That is, when Luang Pu Man was ordained, he came to study Vipassana meditation with Luang Pu Sao at this temple. Wat Lieb, Ubon Ratchathani, was originally a Vipassana monastery built in 1848, towards the end of the reign of King Rama III. The name of Wat Lieb probably came from the fact that it was a temple built along the city moat, along the Mun River, which later became Thanee Dam Road. This monastery was 44 years old and had 10 abbots.
