| Desert, Grassland, Volcano. Follow my three days and two nights itinerary to fully explore Hohhot! Seen the desert, grassland, and volcano! Don’t miss out on photos and delicious food! 🤩 Take a spontaneous trip in July Fall in love with the wind crossing the wilderness and nature No more chit-chat, let me show you how I planned it! 🤪 - 🌈 Day 1: Arrive in Hohhot in the morning, rest briefly, then visit the Dasheng Kui Museum Cluster to learn about the rise and fall of the Dasheng Kui business. In the afternoon, visit the Princess Mansion Museum to experience the grandeur of a royal residence, and enjoy local cuisine in the city at night. - 🌈 Day 2: Full day tour of Xilamuren Grassland, experience horseback riding, archery, and other grassland activities, visit a herder’s family to learn about their authentic lifestyle, and join a bonfire party at night to admire the starry grassland sky. - 🌈 Day 3: In the morning, head to Hasuhai Lake, take a boat ride to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery, pass through the reed maze, and watch birds. In the afternoon, return to Hohhot city, with a stop at the Yili Health Valley Tourist Area to learn about dairy production. ⚠️ About accommodation: I recommend staying in the city for convenience in dining and transportation. We chose Home Inn Neo in the new city district, costing 250 RMB 💰. It was a bit overpriced with a very small room, but it was clean and hygienic, and the location was excellent, close to the train station and shopping areas. Came back from Inner Mongolia with a bunch of great photos!!! Hohhot is seriously an underrated small city!!! It has huge potential!!! - Departed from Chengdu by plane ✈️, 2.5 hours direct to Hohhot Baita Airport! After landing and checking in, we strolled and ate around Hohhot city, enjoying ice-boiled lamb, spicy hot pot, and creamy coffee—all delicious!! - 🚶 Itinerary: Day 1: Free city walk in Hohhot city Day 2: Huitengxile Grassland Day 3: Wulan Hada Volcano 🌋 Day 4: Xiangshawan Desert 🏜️🐫 (return trip) Tips: The whole trip was quite relaxed, not tiring at all. We saw the grassland, desert, and volcano! Also visited city buildings and took photos. (If you’re not planning to drive, it’s better to join a tour group because the attractions are far apart and it’s inconvenient without a car!) - Recommended check-in spots: 📍 Hohhot city: city walk route 🚶 Baorhan Pagoda → Guanyin Temple → Dazhao Wuliang Temple → Xilitu Zhao → Five Pagoda Temple → Great Mosque → Wide Alley! If you have time, visit the Mongolian Mall, which is very nice to explore. 📍 Xiangshawan 🏜️: Desert swimming pool, water and land amusement projects, camel riding, and performances. Food is convenient, no need to bring much food, just a bottle of water is enough. 📍 Wulanchabu Volcano: There are 6 volcanoes to visit. Remember it’s a one-way road, so be sure to get off and take photos at beautiful spots, or you’ll have to circle around again! Volcano No. 6 is the most photogenic; wearing a spacesuit for photos feels like stepping into space! Remember to bargain when renting the spacesuit! 📍 Huitengxile Grassland: If you want to ride horses, wear pants. Be sure to experience the Zhamayan feast and enjoy a Mongolian dinner in a yurt!
