Wild Wild North - Inner Mongolia
Definitely a trip for the more adventurous traveler.
Inner Mongolia was an experience and a half. camping in the desert, riding horses, seeing ancient inner Mongolian rituals, and eating ALOT of Lamb.
Two cities to definitely check out would be Baotou and Hohhot. Baotou has a grassland park right in the center of the city and a lot of good hotpot restaurants. Hohhot is a little bigger with a large Muslim population. you can find great halal food in the area and see some Islamic inspired architecture. a lot of dried meats
🐎 Inner Mongolia is known for its horses and if you go visit the many grassland areas you might be able to catch a horse show or even ride one yourself
🍲 The food is amazing. abundant in lamb and milk products, it might be alittle hard to find vegetarian options, but they do exists.
🐫 The grasslands are amazing. you get to sleep in a yurt and see the night sky and all the stars without any glare from city light.
👘 Classical Mongolian Dancing is also a must see. Very well choreographed dance moves combined with balancing objects on their heads, the dancers make it look easy. but it probably took a long time to master. 🙂
Getting There - Plane and rented keep to the grasslands
Attractions - Horse show, Grasslands, Traditional Mongolian Dancing
Hotels - Grassland Yurt
Food & Restaurants - Lamb Hotpot, Milk Tea, Lamb BBQ

In Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, there is a Tibetan Buddhist temple called Dazhao Temple. When you first heard of Dazhao Temple, you will feel a little doubt, just because there is also a Jokhang Temple in Lhasa in the far west. "Call" and "Zhao" have the same pronunciation, but the meaning is different. "Call" is the meaning of Tibetan temples, and "Zhao" is the meaning of "Sakyamuni Buddha". Da Zhao Temple, the Han name was originally "Hongci Temple", later changed to "Woliang Temple", and because the temple is dedicated to a silver Buddha, also known as "Silver Buddha Temple." "Small is hidden in the mountains, and it is hidden in the city." Most of the temples I have seen are in the mountains, and the temple is an exception, located in the city centre of Hohhot. The so-called big hidden

Inner Mongolia Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
"Mongolian Museum" is the most extensive comprehensive collection of cultural relics collection, research and exhibition in the inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The gold crown of the Xiongnu King, which was unearthed in Ordos City, is exquisite and magnificent. It is the only gold crown decorated by the Huns in China. This set of gold crowns is made by casting, beating, embossing, spinning, inlaying, etc., and the eagle of the wings is tightly connected to the hemisphere. The fore ring is made up of three semi-circular gold bars and rivets. The horizontal part of the tiger, the horizontal disc sheep and the lying horse, etc., the middle part is the rope pattern, which shows the profound culture of the Huns. This is also the treasure of the museum of the Inner Mongolia Museum.
The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Museum has four basic exhibitions: “Inner Mongolia Paleontology Exhibition”, “Inner Mongolia Historical Relics Exhibition”, “Inner Mongolia Revolutionary Cultural Relics Exhibition”, and “Inner Mongolian National Cultural Relics Exhibition”. It shows the evolution of Inner Mongolia's biological evolution and the changes of Gobi, and shows the history of eight ethnic groups including Xiongnu, Donghu, Xianbei, Turkic, Qidan, Dangxiang and Mongolia. It shows the people of Inner Mongolia from the May Fourth Movement to the founding of New China. The history of revolutionary struggles; the unique folk culture created by the Mongolian, Oroqen, Ewenki, and Daur people. The exhibition hall building of the Inner Mongolia Museum has a unique shape and a white building with ethnic characteristics. The white horse of the volley Mercedes-Benz, which is loved by the Mongolian people, symbolizes the auspiciousness and soaring of Inner Mongolia. The building has become one of the landmark buildings of the autonomous region since its completion.
A Day in the Museum
The Inner Mongolia Museum has got to be one of the best museums I've been to. There's just a lot of interesting things to see and history to explore! The free entrance is just a cherry on top, but honestly, with the vast displays and well furated artifacts, I'd be willing to pay just to get inside. Truly, it's a must visit museum in China as I personally lost track of time because of the rich collection they have. Moreover, i hope people would take time to read the captions in order to fully appreciate the history and culture of inner mongolia!#museum #history #culture #china

Temples and Pagodas
This was a very quick trip before our train ride to Baotou and imagine, we visited these beautiful temples for 30 minutes and it was a lot if fun with so many people. Though we kind of regret that we don't have so much time to explore the traditional street and see what they are selling there but still we love the experience having seen so much beauty. Take note: the five pagoda temple is for free.

Great Mosque Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
China's Dairy Capital, The Green City Beyond the Great Wall (Part IV): The Great Mosque
The Great Mosque, located on Tongdao South Road in Da Bei Street of Hui Min District in Hohhot, the capital city, is a well-preserved ancient building, constructed in the 32nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1693 AD).
According to the inscriptions on the stele of the mosque's north and south lecture halls, 'Since the establishment of the Great Qing dynasty, it has been built over many years.' Initially, the construction was quite simple, but it was significantly renovated in the 54th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1789 AD).
In 1923, the local Hui people raised funds for another renovation, which led to its current scale. The mosque covers an area of about 4,000 square meters.
After the renovation, the main hall was raised by 1.7 meters, and the total area of the mosque was expanded by several dozen square meters. The mosque faces east to west, with the main entrance in the middle bearing a plaque with the inscription 'The Great Mosque' and the words 'National Peace' and 'People's Safety'.
There was originally a screen wall in front of the temple gate, over one Zhang tall (now demolished). The outer back wall of the main hall faces the main entrance directly.
There are side doors to the south and north of the main entrance, with blue walls on both sides.
Inside the main gate is the main hall—the main building of the temple, with a unique design. The hall door faces east and has three arch-shaped doors. The lintel is engraved with fine Arabic script, and in front of the main hall is a 'moon platform,' which leads into the main hall when ascended.
In addition to the sanctuary, there are also north and south lecture halls, Muslim baths, the Moon-Watching Tower, the Imam's office, the elders' meeting room, the scripture hall, and other buildings.
There is a stele pavilion in the mosque, among which the 'Hongwu Emperor's Inscribed Hundred-Word Stele for the Huihui Religion' and the 'Stele of the Great Mosque's Renovation in Suiyuan' are of significant research value.
The Moon-Watching Tower, the minaret to the southeast of the mosque, was built in 1933. It is 33 meters high, hexagonal in plan, and has a hexagonal spire. It is named for its use during the month of Ramadan to mark the beginning and end of fasting upon sighting the new moon.
The tower has two stories, shaped like bamboo sections, forming a hexagonal body. The west side of the tower is inscribed with the words 'Moon-Watching Tower' in both Chinese and Arabic.

Allah blesses, rectify the mind and cultivate oneself | Hohhot Grand Mosque
🕌️【National Day Seven-Day Joy·Allah Blesses, Rectify the Mind and Cultivate Oneself】There is a mosque complex in Hohhot city that was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The bright and lively colors are eye-catching. The exquisite arches of the main prayer hall, coupled with Islamic-style decorations, are very beautiful. The Moon-watching Tower built during the Republic of China stands tall. Interestingly, we witnessed a unique Muslim wedding here, solemn and festive. Any faith should be respected, and the blending of various cultures will make this world more colorful.
📝Note tips:
1, The Grand Mosque does not require a ticket🎫
2, The dried beef jerky from Ma Zhangguang's commercial street at the entrance of the Grand Mosque is very delicious, you can take some
The Great Mosque
The Great Mosque is located outside the north gate of the old city, it was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and was once the residence of Heshuo Gejing.
The architecture of the Great Mosque is different from the surrounding Islamic style street, it is in traditional Chinese architectural style, paired with the deep green of Islam.

Wutasi Temple, Mongolian name “Tabu: Spurhan”, was named Cideng Temple in the tenth year of Yongzheng. The layout is the Mandala of the Diamond Realm, among which the Diamond Seat Relic Pagoda is the treasure of the temple, and the five small pagodas respectively represent the Five Buddhas.
There are only more than ten existing Diamond Throne Pagodas in our country. The more famous ones are four: they are the Diamond Throne Pagoda of Zhenjue Temple in Beijing, the Diamond Throne Pagoda of Biyun Temple in Beijing, the Qingjing Huacheng Pagoda and this Cideng Temple Pagoda in Hohhot.
The pagoda is built with brick and stone structure, about 13 meters high, built on a rectangular diamond seat on the base, below is the Sumeru seat, the waist part is brick-carved lions, elephants, Dharma wheels, golden-winged birds, and diamond rods and other patterns; The lower part of the seat body is inlaid with the Diamond Sutra written in Mongolian, Tibetan, and Sanskrit; the upper half is the Thousand Buddha Niches, with 1119 gilded small Buddha statues. Above the niche is the Sanskrit six-character mantra, there is a door in the middle of the south side, and the four heavenly kings are next to the door. The "Diamond Relic Pagoda" stone plaque written in Mongolian, Tibetan, and Chinese is inlaid in the middle.
The north wall of the pagoda is carved with six reincarnation diagrams, Sumeru Mountain distribution maps, and the only Mongolian stone carving astronomical map in the world with high accuracy. It's a pity that tourists can't get a close look.
5 Pagoda Temple in Hohhot 🇨🇳
#wecreate
This was our last day in Inner Monggolia and we just wanted to roam around and we bumped into this 5 Pagoda Temple. We decided to go in since there's no entrance fee. We really like the structure of the pagoda as the design and architecture is very detailed.
The Indian influence is quite visible and of course the Buddhist temples are more like Tibetan or Monggolian.
You do not need to spend a lot of time here. I suggest going straight to the pagoda and admire its intricate architecture.
Enjoy your Hohhot trip.
