The vermilion-painted large torii towering on the path is one of the "three major torii" in Japan, along with the large torii of Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara and Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima. Although most of the shrines were rebuilt, the Otorii escaped air raids during World War II and is designated as an important cultural property of the country.
