Tsutanuma is a small lake in the Lake Towada area of ​​Aomori Prefecture. Deep in the forest surrounding the lodgings with Tsuta Onsen, there are seven lakes, the Seven Tsuta Lakes. Of these, Tsutanuma is one of them, and many photographers flock to it during the autumn foliage season to catch a glimpse of the bright red color of the lake as the morning sun shines on it. Even before dawn, many photographers wait with bated breath on the small observation deck, waiting for the sunrise. Unfortunately, there was a light rain when we visited, so we couldn't see the sunrise, but the crimson-colored scenery was still a sight to behold. It was beautiful. The walking trail around Tsuta Nananuma is also perfect for viewing autumn leaves. The season of fresh green leaves is also beautiful, and many skunk cabbages are blooming along the road. There are almost no tourists during the season of fresh green leaves, so you can take your time strolling. By the way, Towada City, which has become fed up with excessive overtourism, will impose an admission limit of 4,000 yen per car on a pre-reservation basis from 2020.
