Preparation • Ticket purchase: Adult ticket: CNY 75; Student ticket: CNY 40; Senior ticket: CNY 40. Tickets can be purchased on the official website, online travel platforms, or at the ticket office of the scenic area. • Opening hours: 08:00–17:00. Last entry: 17:00. Last entry to Baxian Cave: 15:00. Transportation • Public transportation: From Tianjin, take a train from Tianjin East Railway Station to Jizhou Railway Station, then transfer to a minibus or bus to the scenic area. From Beijing, take the Jingping Expressway to Jixian County, then take the Jinwei Highway to the scenic area. From Tangshan, take the Jingshen Expressway, transfer to the Jinji Expressway at Baodi, then take the Jinwei Highway to the scenic area. • Self-driving: From downtown Tianjin, take the Jinji Expressway, then take the Jinwei Highway to the scenic area. Tour routes • History and culture tour: Enter the scenic area through the ticket gate, visit Jibeixiongguan Archway and Huangyaguan Pass, enter Bagua Pass City, visit Bagua Maze, Longevity Garden, Museum, Forest of Steles, Baipine Garden, Zhenguan Square, and Celebrity Couplets Hall, climb the Great Wall from Huangya Zhenguan, visit Beijige, and visit the Great Wall. • Northern Qi Ancient Great Wall adventure tour: Enter the scenic area through the ticket gate, go to Huangya Zhenguan Square, climb Beijige, walk west along the Great Wall, pass Huangya Ladder and Tianmenkou, and arrive at the mysterious Northern Qi Ancient Great Wall Scenic Area. There are the best-preserved and largest Northern Qi and Ming Dynasty Great Wall sites in Huangyaguan. Main attractions • Huangyaguan Tower: The main entrance of the Great Wall. After restoration, it has become a well-preserved ancient building. Standing on the tower, you can overlook the whole Great Wall and feel the weight and vicissitudes of history. • Bagua Pass City: The streets are laid out in a complex pattern like a Bagua diagram, easy to enter but difficult to exit, and is vividly called the "Bagua Maze". • Taipingzhai: An important pass on the southeast side of the Great Wall. The Great Wall here is built on a high mountain ridge, and the scenery is more spectacular. The Widow Tower and Northern Qi Duntai in the village are fascinating. • Huangya Water Pass: One of the famous water passes on the Great Wall, it spans the Ju River. The five-hole bridge-style building is both practical and beautiful, and there are defensive facilities such as crenels and horse paths on the water pass. Food recommendations • Huangyaguan Fried Free-range Eggs: The local free-range eggs are delicious and nutritious. The fried eggs are golden in color and fragrant. • Huangyaguan Braised Pork: The meat is tender and melts in your mouth, fatty but not greasy. Paired with unique sauces and side dishes, it is very delicious. Notes • The scenic area is large, so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. • Pay attention to safety when climbing the Great Wall, and do not climb dangerous areas. • Respect history and culture, and do not touch or damage cultural relics.
