Chiang Mai Night Safari Guide: A Must for Family Trips!

Chiang Mai and Singapore are the only two night zoos in Asia, with Chiang Mai being the largest. While it may not compare to Guangzhou's Chimelong, each zoo has its unique charm. Animal lovers should definitely experience the Thai version of a wildlife world. My two kids had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Chiang Mai Night Safari is divided into three main zones: 1. Herbivore Zone: Home to animals from the African savannah such as zebras, hippos, giraffes, wildebeests, Asian elephants, ostriches, and kangaroos. 2. Carnivore Zone: Features Bengal white tigers, cougars, lions, hyenas, Asian black bears, and foxes. 3. Walking Zone: Offers beautiful lake views and a jungle path to see animals like fennec foxes, Malayan tapirs, civet cats, white raccoons, and squirrel monkeys. Besides walking and observing animals, the zoo offers various animal shows including a night predator show, tiger show, water dance show, and dance show. You can also buy veggie trays to feed the adorable animals. Suggested itinerary: - 3:00 PM: Feed small animals at the entrance and explore the walking zone (about an hour). - 4:30 PM: Wildlife show. - 5:30 PM: Tiger show. - 6:00 PM: Dance show (optional). - 6:15 PM: Music fountain show. - 6:30 PM: Herbivore Zone. - 7:00 PM: Carnivore Zone. - 7:30 PM: End of visit. Note: 1. The night safari tram offers a unique experience, but visibility is poor and many animals are resting. Daytime visits provide better lighting for observing and interacting with animals. Arrive by 3 PM if possible! 2. Trams cannot be ridden multiple times, but shows can be watched repeatedly. Additional Tips: 1. The park offers snacks and drinks at reasonable prices, but no full-service restaurants. Plan ahead if you have specific dining needs. 2. Seating for animal shows can affect your view. Arrive early to choose a good spot. The third and fourth rows near the aisle offer the best views, as the first and second rows may have obstructed views. Shows last about 30 minutes. Quick Tips: - Grab a map at the entrance. The staff is very helpful and will provide a schedule based on your time. - Recommended visit duration: 4 hours. - Important: Arrive by 3 PM! It's difficult to take photos after dark. - If you arrive at 3 PM, you can leave by 7 PM and have dinner elsewhere, as the food options in the zoo are limited! #ChiangMaiTravel #ChiangMaiNightSafari
