If you go to Nakhon Phanom, don't forget to pay homage to Phra That Tha Uthen.

When visiting Nakhon Phanom Province, everyone must think of Phra That Phanom. But in addition to Phra That Phanom, there is another beautiful chedi with a long history, which is Phra That Tha Uthen. Phra That Tha Uthen is located in Wat Phra That Tha Uthen in Tha Uthen District, about 30 kilometers north of Nakhon Phanom City, which is the route to Bueng Kan Province. Anyone traveling to Tham Nakha from Nakhon Phanom Province can stop by to pay homage to Phra That Tha Uthen. And if you are a spiritual person, you should not miss it. To travel to Tha Uthen District, in addition to renting a car to drive yourself, there are tour buses from Nakhonchai Air and 999 Transport Company that go directly from Bangkok to here. Or if coming from Nakhon Phanom City, there are also buses. What we saw was a vintage car like in the movie "Fan Chan"! But we are not sure of the travel schedule and time. Personally, we like the atmosphere inside Wat Phra That Tha Uthen a lot because it is quiet, there are not many tourists, and it has unique art and architecture that looks different from other places. The current chedi (January 2023) is white/gray. I heard that the chedi is being renovated regularly. Recently, the villagers have helped collect donations to restore it and received gold buds or golden flowers. And what we really like is the combination of exquisite stucco work on the chedi with the simple craftsmanship of the mythical animals (the cute and adorable Himmapan marshmallows) and the high-relief sculptures on the outer walls of the chedi. We hope that both the atmosphere and these artworks will remain with the chedi forever and not disappear in the future. We almost forgot another highlight of Wat Phra That Tha Uthen: the temple is right next to the Mekong River. If you look across the river, you are in Laos. The view is beautiful and the weather is nice, but we forgot to take a picture. There is only a picture of the entrance archway where you can see the river and the mountains a little bit.
