Stage of Gladiator Battles

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Tarragona (Region) This amphitheater, built in the 2nd century AD, is located along the Mediterranean coast and hosted various popular performances, such as gladiator fights. It features the characteristic oval floor plan of such structures. Beneath the performance area lies a pit used for auxiliary services. At the center of the amphitheater, there are foundation remains of a 6th-century Visigothic cathedral and a 12th-century Romanesque-Gothic church. The amphitheater is part of the Tarraco monumental complex, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
