Baroque church

This was the first Christian cathedral built in Tarazona after the conquest of the city by King Alfonso I of Aragon "The Warrior". It has a majestic yet slender Mudejar-style tower. From its beginnings as a cathedral it retains the triple apse and the lower part of the tower, in Romanesque style and made of stone (12th century). The church has three naves, the side naves have a Mudejar wooden frame (15th century), the central nave has a barrel vault with lunette decoration (Baroque style, late 17th century), and several side chapels. The tower's current appearance is the result of construction work done between the 14th and 16th centuries, with the Baroque spire completed in 1610. It is built of three sections of brick and rests on an old Roman skirting board.
