Takachiho gorge

The Takachiho Gorge in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu, is another dream destination for us. This is a deep gorge formed by the eruption of Mount Aso thousands of years ago. The Gokase River flows through the middle of this deep canyon, with waterfalls cascading down, creating a unique and unforgettable view. The most popular activity for tourists here is a boat trip on the Gokase River. This allows you to see the beautiful, towering cliffs from a different perspective, and offers a small sense of adventure. However, booking a boat for kayaking is very difficult, as reservations are made weekly and fill up extremely quickly. Alternatively, if you want to explore on foot, there's a short, 1-kilometer walking trail along the waterfall. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the waterfalls. At the end of the path is Takachiho Shrine, where you can stop by and pray for love. Once you get here, don't forget to try Nagashi Somen, which is somen noodles served cold. But here, it's served in a unique way using a bamboo trough – so cool! And the bamboo trough is very clean, no need to worry. You can order sets or just the noodles.
