Taiyuan City. The old site of the Military Governor's Mansion. In 1916, the military chiefs of each province were renamed as military governors, Yan Xishan served as the military governor, hence the name Military Governor's Mansion. The old site of the Military Governor's Mansion covers an area of 35,110 square meters, mainly composed of the gatehouse, front yard buildings, Yuanyi Hall, Xiaozisheng Hall, Meishan, and Yutangchun, it is one of the more intact old sites of the Military Governor's Mansion preserved in China. It contains 5 steles and 1 tablet from the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. In September 2017, the People's Government of Shanxi Province relocated, and Taiyuan City organized and implemented comprehensive remediation supporting projects. The authorities demolished 6 modern buildings that were not in harmony with the historical appearance, repaired 11 historical buildings such as the South Gate, Yuanyi Hall, and Zisheng Hall, and built 6 antique buildings based on relevant historical literature.
