When turning into the alley with the navigation, the first thing that catches your eye is not the homestay sign, but a wall covered with densely packed fresh flowers, with vines hanging down onto the nearby swing frame—a perfect spot for photos. At night, it looks even more stunning, with warm yellow lights illuminating the sign and roses in front of the door, making the homestay feel even cozier. As soon as the owner heard us arrive, he came out to greet us, took my heavy suitcase, and led us inside. The first-floor lobby is very bright and features a small pond with a few red and yellow koi swimming around the water lilies. While the owner was checking us in, we sat on the leather chairs by the pond to rest for a moment, enjoying the Suzhou pastries we had just bought on the way—so delightful. The room we booked on the second floor has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. When we drew the curtains, we saw the small houses by the little bridge and flowing water outside the alley—opening a window in the evening was even cooler than the air conditioning. After showering in the evening, I went downstairs to find the washing machine and discovered that not only was there laundry detergent nearby, but also a drying rack by the window. In the evening, I climbed up to the rooftop, brewed a cup of green tea, and sat waiting for the sunset. The flying eaves of the Humble Administrator's Garden in the distance slowly turned golden. Together with my friends, we captured the most beautiful scenery of Suzhou in the sunset. This kind of homestay offers so much more of the authentic "living life" feeling than a hotel.
