Lize Girls' School

At the end of the 19th century, the country was weak. New-style schools in the country were limited to boys' schools. In 1898, Liang Qichao and others established the first girls' school in Shanghai, and Cai Yuanpei also founded the Patriotic Girls' School in Shanghai. In 1906, Ren Chuanxin, the second-generation owner of Tuisiyuan, founded Lize Girls' School in his own garden. He then went to Germany and Japan to investigate girls' education and hired famous teachers to teach at the school. In 1911, Ren purchased land and built a two-story teaching building, which was later expanded to three stories. Fu Zengxiang, the Minister of Education of the Beiyang Government, personally inscribed the school motto 'Sincerity, Diligence, Simplicity, and Love.'
