Suifenhe, a border town, is home to the century-old White Building.

The century-old White Building is located at No. 2, Lishu Street, Huayuan Road, Suifenhe. Built in 1903, it is a Russian-style eclectic brick-wood structure. It is a rectangular two-story building with a patio in the middle and a patio passage in the southeast. Because the building is white, it is commonly known as the "White Building." After the eastern section of the Middle East Railway was opened to traffic, the Qing government sent Jia Yude to Suifenhe Station to set up a negotiation branch, which was an administrative and judicial office along the Middle East Railway. In October 1903, the Harbin Railway Negotiation Bureau recalled Jia Yude and sent Baolin, a fourth-rank official, to serve as a candidate. In December 1903, the Suifenhe Railway Negotiation Bureau was officially established, and Baolin was appointed as the first chief commissioner. This was the official residence of the chief commissioner. In 1933, it was the dormitory for Japanese employees of the Manchurian Railway. After 1945, it was the dormitory and office of Soviet railway experts. In 1955, it was the single dormitory for railway workers. In March 2013, it became a national key cultural relic protection unit. Unfortunately, when I went there, it was being renovated, so I couldn't go in and visit. I could only admire it from the outside.
