Hidden Gem in Yamaguchi

During my trip to Yamaguchi, I visited Shimonoseki and stayed at a hotel very close to Shimonoseki Station. Just a short walk from the station, I found a delightful kaiseki-style izakaya in the Toyomeda shopping street where I had dinner. ☺️ The interior of the restaurant had a calm and cozy atmosphere. It wasn’t very spacious, with only a limited number of seats. Upon entering, you take off your shoes, and the counter seating is immediately visible. The seating area is designed with a sunken kotatsu, which was incredibly comfortable to sit on. 🥰 While they offer course meals, I opted for à la carte dishes this time: ▶︎ Tiger pufferfish sashimi ▶︎ Assorted sashimi for two ▶︎ Whale bacon ▶︎ Deep-fried pufferfish ▶︎ Grilled eggplant and tomato ▶︎ Homemade shrimp mayo (half portion, two pieces) ▶︎ Sushi platter for one This restaurant is directly managed by "Karato Nakaoshi Kanehi," owned by the proprietor, ensuring that only carefully selected, high-quality ingredients are sourced. 🐟 Additionally, the head chef has trained at a traditional Japanese restaurant, and every dish truly showcased the quality of the ingredients.
