Visit Shimen Laomei Community: Taiwan's First Picture Book Town

Taiwan's first multimedia picture book town, where stories from picture books are brought to life on the walls of the community, is located in the northernmost community of Taiwan. Here, you can see nostalgic grocery stores (Figures 13-14), a stage (Figure 17), and a hardware store (Figure 18). With vibrant graffiti, the old community has a new look, making it very attractive. Shimen District in New Taipei City is the northernmost rural area in Taiwan. Laomei Elementary School, which has a history of 120 years, collaborated with a media company to transform the old community's image by bringing self-made picture books to the community walls, turning Laomei into a picture book town. From the oldest Laomei Elementary School, children paint in the community, bringing the character Xiaomei into the community, ensuring that children always keep their dreams alive. Xiaomei's dream has truly come true. The Dentsu Group, adhering to the spirit of corporate social responsibility, developed the old rural community, allowing children to see opportunities and hope, and promoting the economic development of Laomei.
