Gankeng Ancient Town—A Hakka Cultural Experience

Gankeng Ancient Town is a historical town that has existed since the Ming Dynasty, located in Longgang District, Shenzhen. This Hakka ancient town has become one of the rare cultural scenic areas in Shenzhen, rated as a national 3A-level scenic spot. The Scholar's Mansion and Nanxiang Building, both over a hundred years old, showcase the beauty of ancient Lingnan architecture. In the Historical Pavilion, hundreds of lanterns hang from the buildings, making it one of the most photogenic spots for visitors. The cultural park area features various performances, including Cantonese opera, ancient dance, and stage plays, presenting the life of the ancients to tourists. The cultural area also hosts workshops from time to time, allowing everyone to create traditional crafts. In terms of dining, there are many unique cafes and eateries here. I particularly like the local clay pot chicken, which is very delicious. In the ancient town, there are rentals for Hanfu, cheongsam, and other ethnic costumes. Many ladies dressed in these costumes take pictures at various spots, looking gorgeous, and I believe they must receive a lot of likes👍 in their social circles. Ancient Town Admission: Free Opening Hours: 24 hours Transportation: Take the Shenzhen Metro Line 10 to Gankeng Station, get off at Exit B, and walk for about 10 minutes. If you want to further experience the ancient Lingnan gardens and the essence of Chinese culture, the Twenty-Four Histories Academy here can satisfy your needs. However, there is an admission fee for the academy: RMB 60/person before 17:30, and RMB 39/person for the night ticket from 17:30–21:30.
