Liaoning Provincial Museum

The Liaoning Museum, which opened on July 7, 1949, as the Northeast Museum, is the first museum established in New China. The new museum started construction in August 2011, completed its civil engineering in June 2013, began trial operation in May 2015, and after three years of meticulous preparation, it fully opened on August 17, 2018. It is renowned at home and abroad for its rich collections and distinctive features. The total number of cultural relics in the museum reaches 112,000 pieces (sets), among which the most characteristic and influential are the Jin, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties' calligraphy and painting masterpieces such as 'Cao E's Eulogy', 'Tang Dynasty Imitation of Wang Xizhi's Letters', Zhang Xu's 'Four Posts of Ancient Poems in Cursive Script', 'Adorning Hairpin Lady Figure', 'Lady of Guo State on a Spring Outing', Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty's 'Thousand Character Text in Cursive Script', 'Auspicious Crane', as well as Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties' kesi embroidery, Hongshan culture jades, Shang and Zhou dynasties' buried bronzes, Liao dynasty ceramics, steles from various dynasties, Ming and Qing woodblock prints, ancient maps, and currencies from various dynasties recorded in Li Zuoxian's 'Collection of Ancient Springs' from the Qing dynasty.
