When you come to Shenyang, in addition to the palace and two tombs, you must visit the Liaoning Provincial Museum! Liaoning Museum, also known as Liaoning Provincial Museum, is located at No. 157, Zhihui 3rd Street, Hunnan District, Shenyang City, next to the Provincial Library and Science and Technology Exhibition Hall. In 1948, Shenyang was liberated. With the approval of the Northeast People's Government, the museum was renovated and the Northeast Museum was established. In 1949, the Northeast Museum opened to the public and was the first museum established in New China. In 1959, it was renamed Liaoning Provincial Museum. In 2004, the Liaoning Provincial Museum Municipal Branch opened. In 2009, Liaoning Provincial Museum was listed as a national museum jointly built by the central and local governments. In 2015, the Liaoning Provincial Museum Municipal Branch was officially closed on March 30. On May 16, 2015, the first phase of the new Hunan branch of Liaoning Provincial Museum opened.
