Huizhou Ancient City

is located in Huicheng Town, She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It borders Jixi County and Lin'an City of Zhejiang Province to the northeast, Chun'an County and Kaihua County of Zhejiang Province to the southeast, Tunxi District and Xiuning County to the southwest, and Huizhou District and Huangshan District to the northwest. Originally built during the Qin Dynasty, it has served as the seat of the Hui prefecture, state, and regional government since the Tang Dynasty, undergoing numerous expansions and renovations. Covering a total area of 24.7 square kilometers, it is divided into an inner city and outer walls, with four gates in the east, west, south, and north directions. The iconic Xu Guo Stone Archway, constructed in the twelfth year of the Wanli Emperor's reign in the Ming Dynasty, is situated east of Yanhe Gate within She County. It was built to commemorate Xu Guo, a Grand Secretary of the Ming Dynasty, for his meritorious service in quelling the Yunnan rebellion. It is also known as the "Eight-Legged Archway" and the "Arc de Triomphe of the East."
