Zhejiang: Anchang Ancient Town 6/7

Most of the buildings in Anchang Ancient Town are brick and wood structures or old houses, with a high density of houses. The ancient bridges and streets use a lot of old bricks, tiles, and slabs, and the architectural style inherits the typical characteristics of the water towns in Jiangnan, with a simple and elegant style. The town still retains old stone roads, verandas, shops, arch bridges, stone beams, and alleys, and the ancient style remains unchanged. Anchang Ancient Town is one of the first historical and cultural towns announced by Zhejiang Province. It was built in the Northern Song Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties after being burned down many times due to wars. Its architectural style inherits the typical characteristics of the water towns in Jiangnan, with a simple and elegant style. Its specialties, Anchang sausages and sugar, are well-known, and the water wedding with the style of a water town is also unique. It is the hometown of Shaoxing masters. The ancient town has historical relics such as the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal, ancient bridges, and ancient towpaths, and is known as "a thousand houses along the green water street, and seventeen bridges across the river like rainbows."
