Pioneer Bookstore - Shaoxing Yejiayan.

In 2024, the first Pioneer Bookstore in Shaoxing was located in Yejiayan, Keyan Street, Keqiao District, a small island surrounded by water on three sides. Well-known cultural and artistic resources, coupled with a unique geographical location, made it the most watched cultural landmark in Shaoxing recently. Pioneer Jianhu Bookstore is located on the island in the heart of Yejiayan Lake and is transformed from an abandoned water plant. The original building built in the 1980s and the original water pump facilities of the old water plant, as well as the texture of concrete and ceramic tiles, are retained. Let new materials and old things blend, let contemporary and traditional coexist. The original building was built in the 1980s, with a land area of more than 9,000 square meters. Through the newly opened open corridor, the four buildings on the island are connected into a whole, combined with the water pavilion, forming a new humanistic garden where historical tradition and contemporary culture intersect. The bookstore is divided into six major themes: Lu Xun theme area, book exhibition area, cultural and creative theme area, coffee leisure area, external corridor and long bridge. Lu Xun theme area, a lot of old versions of works related to Lu Xun are displayed; cultural and creative theme area, with keychains, badges, postcards and other cultural and creative works of Shaoxing IP such as Qu Shui Liu Shang, Shui Xiang She Xi, Bai Cao Yuan, etc.; the bookstore also created a whole wall with Shaoxing regional cultural elements. The book wall is placed with various themes such as yellow wine, Yue opera, Yue porcelain, master, Lanting Yaji, etc., which are very characteristic of Shaoxing. In the book exhibition area, the designer created a sunken space, and retained the original water pump facilities of the old water plant, as well as the texture of concrete and ceramic tiles. Natural light penetrates the roof windows and large floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating this small world. Visitors can taste the fragrance of books while admiring the natural beauty of Jianhu.
