Bazi Bridge, a historical epitome of Shaoxing Water City

Bazi Bridge is located in Baziqiao Straight Street, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing. From the stone carvings on one side of the bridge, it can be known that it was built during the Jia Tai period of the Southern Song Dynasty, and it has a history of more than 800 years. Bazi Bridge is actually composed of three Bazi bridges. Because it looks like the character '八', it is named Bazi Bridge. Bazi Bridge was announced by the State Council in June 2001 as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In May 2013, as the first ancient bridge in Shaoxing, Bazi Bridge and the other 12 ancient bridges in Shaoxing were merged into the Shaoxing Ancient Bridge Group and included in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the state. 'A glimpse of the leopard', Bazi Bridge, is actually a historical epitome of Shaoxing Water City. There are no ancient relics on the current Bazi Bridge Straight Street, which is just an ordinary city road. The highlight is at the Bazi Bridge in the eastern section of Straight Street: under the west end of the bridge, the atmosphere is quite lively: under the dense shade, three or five old men are chatting in the ancient pavilion, and local vendors are shouting and selling agricultural and sideline products... This ordinary civilian life is really leisurely. The Bazi Bridge Historical and Cultural Block is located between the north-south Guangning Bridge and Dongshuang Bridge. Walking north along the Bazi Bridge river, the life breath of the residents on both sides is even stronger. There are those who open doors for business, those who open shops for catering snacks, and those who paddle in the river and row awning boats. The figures of tourists are endless, and the footsteps keep knocking on the stone road along the river. Almost every family along the river loves beauty and plants strange flowers and plants in front of their homes, which are colorful and extremely beautiful. The Bazi Bridge Historical and Cultural Block can really be described as a miniature version of 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival'.
