After leaving Lijiang, we made our way to the gorge for a 2-day, 1-night hike, and it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip. Here’s how it went: Day 1: The Adventure Begins After leaving Lijiang, we headed straight to the Tiger Leaping Gorge trailhead, ready for the adventure ahead. The trail is known for its stunning scenery and challenging terrain, and we couldn’t wait to dive in. We started the hike with breathtaking views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the rugged canyon. The first section of the trail took us along steep cliffs with panoramic vistas of the gorge and the mighty Yangtze River far below. The scenery was breathtaking, and the sheer scale of the landscape made us feel incredibly small. 🍂 The Hike to the Tea Horse Guesthouse After several hours of hiking, we reached the Tea Horse Guesthouse, where we spent the night. The guesthouse is located at a strategic point along the trail, offering amazing views of the gorge and the surrounding mountains. We relaxed, enjoyed a delicious meal, and soaked in the serene beauty of the gorge while watching the sunset. Day 2: The Final Stretch to the Gorge’s Heart The next day, we tackled the second part of the hike. This section was a bit more challenging, with steeper climbs and some rocky paths, but it was totally worth it for the views. We trekked deeper into the gorge, crossing the famous Tiger Leaping Stone, where legend has it that a tiger leaped across the river. The sound of the rushing water below was deafening, but the view was simply jaw-dropping. After completing the hike, we took a local bus to Shangri-La, where we continued our journey, ready to explore the beauty of Shangri-La’s Tibetan culture and high-altitude landscapes. After completing this incredible hike, we headed to Shangri-La, where we continued our journey into the heart of Tibetan culture.
