Balagezong Sacred Realm

1. Gezong Snow Mountain: Located at the border of Shangri-La City in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and Derong County in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a highest altitude of 5545 meters, it is the highest peak in Shangri-La City. The mountain has steep slopes and rugged terrain, covered with snow all year round. Its scenery is stunning but difficult to reach. From May to November each year, some pilgrims, photographers, and adventurers come to hike around the mountain or cross the pass. 2. Bala Village: Situated at an altitude of 2900 meters on the mountainside under Gezong Snow Mountain in the middle of Shangri-La Grand Canyon. It is said that more than 1300 years ago, the Tibetan tribal leader Sna Dorje led his tribe to settle here while searching for his wife, Renchen Lhamo. Today, Bala Village has become a concentrated area for experiencing authentic Tibetan folk customs, culture, and traditions. 3. Millennium Phoenix Bodhi Tree: This Bodhi tree is over a thousand years old and has a shape resembling a phoenix. Even more miraculous is that a 'hand' grows from its trunk, reaching into a rock crevice with clearly defined fingers. 4. Shambhala Stupa: Known as 'Xiangququden' in Tibetan, its round top is covered with white snow, and below is a black circular rock wall, resembling a beautiful white stupa. Nearby are statues of scriptures and sitting lamas, collectively known as the three treasures of monk, law, and Buddha. It takes about an hour's hike from the end of the road in Gala Village to reach it. 5. Shangri-La Grand Canyon: Formerly known as 'Biryang Canyon,' it consists of the Nixi Balagezong Canyon and the Gezan Birong Canyon. Mysterious rock paintings are distributed on the cliffs on both sides of the canyon, which remain undeciphered to this day. There is a 5-kilometer plank road in the valley, where you can walk along to enjoy the lush trees and the rushing green river. Visitors can also experience rafting in the deep and beautiful canyon. 6. Echo Wall: Known as 'Shisha Andong' in Tibetan, it is the first petal on the east side of the eight-petal lotus. The vegetation on the mountain here is relatively sparse, and the cliffs are steep. Shouting towards the cliff will reflect the sound waves back, creating layered and continuous echoes. Echo Wall also has a 1.2-kilometer plank road and the highest glass plank road, where you can overlook the Shangri-La Grand Canyon, experience the thrilling 'suspension' feeling, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. In addition to the above attractions, the scenic area also has natural landscapes such as plateau lakes, virgin forests, and alpine pastures, as well as cultural landscapes like Bala Zhuomala Temple, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the grandeur and mystery of Balagezong.
